Swans Legends To Roll Back The Years
Swans Legends To Roll Back The Years
Friday, 9th May 2014 10:17 by Ed Johns

On Saturday May 17th, A team of Swansea City legends will take to the field in the famous black and white once more in a spectacular charity event in aid of Swans4Cancer.

A team of Swansea City players from the last 30 years will face a ‘Swans4Cancer’ XI with all proceeds from the match itself and its associated events being split equally between MacMillan and Cancer Research UK. The legends team will include the likes of Roger Freestone, James Thomas, Guillermo Bauza, Andy Legg, Jason Price and Chris Todd plus many more and managed by Brian Flynn, whilst the Swans4Cancer XI is still being assembled at present but currently includes confirmed names from the world of Football, Rugby and TV and will be managed by Swansea City vice chairman Leigh Dineen.

The match itself will kick off at 7pm at The Gnoll in Neath with tickets available now from Derricks Records in Swansea, The Gnoll and Macron Store Neath. Tickets can also be purchased online at the Derricks Records website:
www.derricksmusic.co.uk/Tickets.html?artistevent=All+Artists%2FEvents&startdate=Any&enddate=Any&venue=THE+GNOLL+NEATH

Ticket prices are as follows:

Seated £5 per adult, £3 per child
Standing £2 per adult, £1 per child

Hospitality* £25 per person (includes pre match 3 course meal, plus seated ticket in main stand and matchday programme)

The match will be followed later in the year by a charity auction, as well as various other events in the pipeline. Swans4Cancer is officially recognised and supported by Swansea City football club, although it’s worth noting that this event is not associated with, nor should it be confused with the ‘SwansAid’ match being staged by Sellebrity Soccer at the Liberty Stadium in June.

Further details can be found at the Swans4Cancer website www.swans4cancer.info or on facebook.com/swans4cancer, or on Twitter @swans4cancer. Enquiries can also be made via email at admin@swans4cancer.info.

The Swans4Cancer team would love to see all Swansea City fans young and old, new or long-standing coming along to see their former heroes in action once again and help raise funds for a very worthy cause at the same time. It is also hoped that this will be the first of many such matches and plans are already being made for future events.

*Please note that hospitality tickets are only available by direct enquiry via email and are not on sale at any of the other outlets.
