Ash I'll Remember This For The Rest Of My Life

Ashley Williams was a proud captain after yesterday's win at Old Trafford which he declared he would remember for the rest of his life.

The Swansea skipper was in the mood to praise all his team mates after the game stating that he had not seen so many leaders on the pitch.

And Williams was the biggest one of those himself as he played one of his best games at the centre of defence with some vitally timed tackles preventing some good build up moves by Man Utd which were vital in the outcome of the game.

Williams had been criticised by many the week before for a poor performance against Villarreal at the Liberty but he put that performance behind him and put in the kind of performance that we have grown used to over his many years at the club which is one of the reasons why he is probably the first name on the team sheet every week.

Williams is the kind of player from which others take their lead and it is no coincidence that when he plays well those around him seem to play well too - exactly what you would want at any point in time from your captain.

Speaking to the press after the game he said “I’ve never seen a Swansea team with so many players leading by example.

“I’m proud of these guys. We have a really good unit and we get on very well. There’s a big emphasis on that, and I want to be a good leader for them.

“I will remember this game for the rest of my life.”

The result was the Swans first ever league triumph at Old Trafford and is the second time this year they have left there with a victory under their belt having triumphed in the FA Cup too back in January.
