The Perfect Six? - Burnley Preview
Saturday, 23rd Aug 2014 06:35 by Planet Swans (Follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Well, hands up who expected us to be going into this game searching for our first points of the season instead of looking for the win that could see us end the weekend as the leaders of the Premier League.

After last weekend's famous win at Old Trafford today we look to follow that up with what is now the most important fixture to concentrate on. A couple of the players have said during the course of the week that last weekend's win will mean nothing if we lose today and that is right enough when you consider what the points target would be at the end of each game. Last week I suspect that target for most was no points so we are effectively already three points up on that target. Today we will have targeted three points so anything less than a win and that mark ahead of target would get reduced.

Burnley do come here looking for their first points of the season having been beaten by Chelsea on Monday night but there was no shame in that for them as many sides will be beaten by Chelsea given the form that they showed on Monday night. They arrive though as no mugs having come through the Championship last season to win automatic promotion and certainly didn't look out of place against Chelsea which I am sure has given their fans some optimism for the season that lies ahead.

It is pretty much a sell out for the game today with Burnley having returned many of their ticket allocation which was them promptly sold to home fans and this is the first of three home games this week with Rotherham and West Brom to follow before we take a couple of weeks off for internationals.

Garry Monk I think will name an unchanged side despite having some options available to make changes. Federico Fernandez I think will end up as a substitute for this game aided by the excellent form of Jordi Amat last weekend and I cannot see either Montero or Gomis working their way into the starting line up despite very impressive substitute appearances last weekend.

Also making their home debut this time around will be the giant screens that have been erected on the North and South stands for this season. There were many pictures flowing around social media yesterday of them in testing and they looked impressive and having managed to sneak a peek earlier this week they are certainly bigger than expected and no doubt will generate some discussion on here later on this evening.

Swans fans are also being urged to get to the ground early to get through the gates on the new ticketing system - enticements of cheaper beer is there for people who arrive super early but again I suspect that discussion around the scanners will also be mixed in with the matchday views this evening.

Whatever happens though competitive football is back at the Liberty and I for one cannot wait - can we go back to the top of the league?
