Fabianski Is Your Man Of The Match
Monday, 25th Aug 2014 20:14 by Planet Swans (Follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

Surprisingly, Lucasz Fabianski was the fan's choice for the man of the match award for the Swans win over Burnley on Saturday after the voting closed on the site this evening.

Fabianski was awarded an average rating of 8.3 across all the votes cast, ahead of Ashley Williams who rated 7.8 in this game as a follow up to his man of the match award against Manchester United.

It is a surprising voting pattern when you consider that Burnley only managed one shot on target during the game but then again there were very few stand out performances as the Swans had to dig deep against their opponents particularly in the second half after Nathan Dyer had given them the lead midway through the first period.

Fabianski was commanding in his area and kept Burnley at bay saving the one shot on target but also ensuring that there was a solid look to the Swans defence - something which was so often missing last season.

Having signed this summer on a free transfer from Arsenal, the keeper has impressed in both league wins for the Swans this season and his performance on Saturday ensured he kept his first clean sheet in Swansea colours.

He is likely to be rested tomorrow evening for the visit of Rotherham in the Capital One Cup but will be back in between the sticks for the visit of West Brom on Saturday when the Swans go in search of a third successive league win at the start of a season - something they have not achieved since 2003/4.
