Everton Test For Swans

Swansea City will face a home tie against Everton in the next round of the Capital One Cup after tonight's draw was made live on Sky Sports. The tie will be played week commencing 22nd September.

The draw was made following the progress of the side we defeated in the final 2 years ago - Bradford City who recorded their first win over Leeds since 1986.

The Swans have never beaten Everton in a competitive match and therefore that will have to change if we are to continue our progress in the club.

Last night almost 13,000 were in the Liberty Stadium to see us progress to the Third Round of the competition thanks mainly to the cheap tickets offered by the club for the game. You would hope that they continue this tradition in the next round despite the Premier League opposition and similar pricing will no doubt be welcomed by the fans and create a great chance of a sell out for the game.

There is little doubt that for many we would have been hoping for a potentially easier looking draw than the one we were handed but we should also do well to remember that we had to do it the hard way on our way to success in 2013 with wins against both Liverpool and Chelsea on their own patch so maybe there would not be a better time to beat Everton for the first time.

The game will also pit former manager Roberto Martinez against us for the second time in the competition - he was successful for Wigan a few years back and he will be looking for progress for his side especially as I would guess that European qualification is vitally important to Everton this season.

The tie is also one of several all Premier League encounters drawn this evening and whichever of the two sides progress to the fourth round they will certainly fancy their chances of a very good cup run beyond that.
