If You Were Garry - West Brom (Home)

Garry Monk has some choices to make ahead of the West Brom game after Tuesday's win over Rotherham in the Capital One Cup gave some other players the chances to shine in the team and stake their claims for a first team spot in the league.

You may think that after two games in the league and two wins, the selection was a simple one but for the visit of West Brom this weekend, Garry must now consider whether he names an unchanged side or whether he brings like likes of Bafetimbi Gomis, Jefferson Montero, Federico Fernandez or even Tom Carroll into the starting line up.

It will be a tough call this weekend and I think the selection against West Brom is much harder than it was to pick the team against Burnley on the basis that we were always going to go into that game unchanged given the fact we had won at Old Trafford the week before.

And I have a feeling that we may field that unchanged side (or at least league wise) this Saturday too as we look to record three wins at the start of a Premier League campaign for the first time ever.

As ever, for me there are certainties to start and that will include Lucasz Fabianski, Angel Rangel, Ashley Williams, Gylfi Sigurddson, Wayne Routledge, Jonjo Shelvey, Ki and Wilfried Bony.

As it stands at the moment I cannot see any of these being replaced in the team as I am not sure we have the options to do it. That is probably an unfair comment as we do have the options but not sure that the options are either a. Ready or b. fit.

That therefore only leaves three places to debate over, centre half, left back and the other wide spot. Given Garry's comments yesterday where he said that Neil Taylor was the only recognised left back at the club then you have that position sorted. This appears to be an area that he wants to change in the coming weeks so expect competition for Taylor but for now he comes in again.

The wide spot will go to Nathan Dyer tomorrow almost certainly. He was the only one to survive a starting spot from last weekend to midweek and I don't see that changing for tomorrow. Montero will get a run out at some point tomorrow but I just cannot see him starting.

So we look to the centre of defence. As I said last week Fernandez has been signed to have a starting place in the team in my view so it is only a matter of time until he starts in the Premier League. Last weekend I was convinced it would be this weekend but as matchday approaches I am not so sure. Amat really hasn't done anything wrong in his appearances for the team in the league this season and that I think will be enough to keep him in the starting line up.

So from opening the discussion with a viewpoint that it would not be as easy this time round to select a team I have predicted an unchanged line up for the third time in the row in the league. If that happened, maybe a quiz buff can tell me the last time that happened.

Whether I am right or not remains to be seen - have your own views by predicting your team. . Click Here to make your selections
