Fabianski Taking The Positives

It is good to see the players joining the management in taking the positives out of yesterday's defeat at Chelsea. It is even more pleasing when it is a goalkeeper who was beaten four times as the Swans lost their perfect start to the season against the title favourites.

There was no disgrace in defeat yesterday as the Swans pushed Chelsea hard in the first twenty minutes before having to succumb to the pressure exerted by the home team who scored four goals before Jonjo Shelvey grabbed a late consolation for the Swans in an entertaining encounter.

Certainly from the performance seen there should be no reason why any Swans fans should be downbeat as a result of the game and we can look forward to games against Southampton, Sunderland and Newcastle with great optimism as we look to build on what has been an excellent start to the season.

Prior to yesterday, Fabianski had been beaten just once in the three league games prior to the game but he was powerless to do anything about the goals that Chelsea scored and it is brilliant to see that it has not dampened his confidence at all as one of the signings of the summer spoke after the game.

"We had a good chance to equalise at 2-1 when Bafe went in on goal and shot wide," he said. "If that had gone in then who knows what would have happened.

"We'll have to look at both the positives and negatives and draw some smart conclusions from there, but we did well.

"In the first half I thought we dominated the game. We created lots of chances and probably shocked them with how well we were playing.

"But we were hanging on a little in the closing stages of the first half as they had more possession and crosses in the box.

"It isn't a good time to concede and in the second half Chelsea pushed a lot harder."
