The Right Decision

So the FA have decided not to proceed with any action against Garry Monk following his after match comments about referees and Victor Moses after the recent defeat to Stoke.

Monk spoke from the heart having watched his side beaten 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium where Stoke had been given a penalty that never was to bring them level in a game that the Swans were in complete control of at the time.

He accused Moses of cheating and the referee of cheating his team in the interview that was broadcast live on Sky Sports straight after the game. His comments got an immediate response from his opposite number on the day Mark Hughes who called it inexperience that the words were spoken.

However, it was confirmed yesterday that whilst Monk had been asked to explain his comments there would be no further action coming the way of the Swansea manager for them.

This can surely only be the right decision. I would expect that if Monk had carried on with his comments in the week and even now then the result would be different but the words were spoken in the heat of the immediate period after the game and therefore that factor had to be taken into consideration.

You also have to wonder whether the incident itself would have played a part in no action being taken and considering everyone has said it was no penalty then an allowance has to be taken into consideration whether to take action.

Whatever the reasons though I am glad to see that common sense has prevailed and Monk will not get any punishment for the comments.
