Ash Pleased For Bafe

Ashley WIlliams probably echoed the words of so many when Bafatimbi Gomis scored the goal that gave the Swans a 5th away win of the season finally scoring one of the chances that came his way to give the Swans a vital win.

And it was a brilliant goal when it came with Montero's pass almost inch perfect but the strength of Gomis should not be underplayed when he held off Ciaran Clark to get the important first touch having been frustrated for so much of the afternoon by the desperation of the Villa defence.

It was Gomis third winning goal for the Swans this season following strikes against Arsenal and Liverpool and whilst he may not have the adulation that was afforded to WIlfried Bony he is slowly showing that he could have a long term future at the Swans as he starts to grow in confidence.

And he certainly has the support of the players including his captain who said “Bafe was having a tough time throughout the game, but we stuck all with him and we knew one would drop for him

“Some of his chances he took well, but the defenders managed to block them. But he kept going, and that’s important.

“The gaffer kept him on and he got his reward with his goal. Jeff did well to beat his marker and Bafe got away from his own man to tuck it home and it was a good finish.

“He needed that goal and we are all very happy for him. He will gain a lot of confidence from today.”
