Dutch Midfielder Linked With Saints After Mystery Trip To England
Monday, 23rd Mar 2015 16:54

Feyenoord's Tonny Vilhena is set to move to Saints in the summer according to sources in the Netherlands.

The midfielder who has found himself out of favour at Feyenoord since Ronald Koeman's departure is understood to have made a mystery trip to England on March 3rd although there has been no suggestion he attended St Mary's that night to see Saints take on Crystal Palace. Feyenoord are aware he made the trip although they do not know what the reason for the trip actually was.

According to media sources in Holland though he has already agreed personal terms and is desperate to link up with Koeman again and as soon as the transfer window opens negotiations between the two clubs will begin.

Saints tried to sign him back in January but Feyenoord were unwilling to sell feeling that their squad would be too thin on the ground, however with Vilhena only making one appearance in the last month, that a Europa League start that saw him taken off at half time he is now believed to be totally out of Koeman's replacement in Rotterdam, Fred Rutten's plans.

I would be wary of having too many with a RoKo connection. When he goes they will and we could be back to last summer. Even if we make profits on the deals we can't keep having big upheavals.

SanMarco has a point. It also appears to be too easy to look across the North Sea for our team/squad building. If Greg Dyke plans becomes fruition most of these players will not get a look in here.
