Anything but Child's Play as Chief Exec quits the club and Casino link denied
Monday, 23rd Mar 2015 22:30

Leeds United Chief Executive Matt Child has parted company just weeks after taking the role in the wake of Massimo Cellino's exile. Just hours earlier Malaysian based Genting Casino issued an extraordinary statement denying any interest in buying the club.

Child a self confessed Leeds fan leaves his post under a shroud of mystery with both the club and individual remaining tight lipped over the reasons why he is going. However it shows that once again, behind the scenes the club are blighted with uncertainty at the very top. Although I've always considered the prominence of the clubs Chief Executive to be a necessary evil of the modern game, I remember squirming with embarrassment when Man United and Chelsea were scrapping over Peter Kenyon, his departure clearly indicates that things aren't well behind closed doors at Elland Road and following on from a decade of Cellino, GFH Capital and Ken Batea most rational thinkers would sympathise with our plight!

However the growing number of fans who wish Cellino would sell up and move on we're dealt a blow when Genting Casino's issued a statement condemning social media and intriguingly local press reports (surely not the good old YEP?) denying any interest whatsoever in investing in Leeds United.

So I suppose it's up to Russell Crowe now to show us the colour of his money and prove he's not merely orchestrating a publicity stunt!
