Jenkins - The Swans Best Season

Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has hailed last season as the best season in our history thanks to the Swans 8th placed finish in the league with a Premier League record haul of 56 points.

Jenkins was speaking on the club's official review of last season DVD that will go on sale in the club shop tomorrow and look back over what was an incredible nine months for the Swans.

Led by rookie manager Garry Monk, they upset the apple cart on Day 1 when they triumphed 2-1 at Old Trafford and we went onto do the league double over both United and Arsenal, only the third team in Premier League history to do that in the same season.

And whilst it wasn't quite the highest place that the Swans have ever achieved - John Toshack's side finished 6th in the top flight in 1982 - it was still enough for Jenkins to hail the season as the best ever.

He said “When you’re competing in this division against big clubs, for us to be in the top ten all year and finish eighth comfortably shows that we’ve gone to a new level.

“We’ve got a strong squad and the club is in a fantastic position, so it has to be the best shape the club has ever been in its history.

“To me it’s the best season in the club’s history. We have exceeded expectations - I don’t think anyone can argue that.

“We have been consistent throughout the season, and that was the very pleasing thing.

“To stay in the top half of the table for the entire season is a fantastic achievement for us."
