Danny Ings scored his first goal as Liverpool finished their down under tour with a win over Adelaide United but there was a defeat for Norwich as they lost to Maccabi Haifa.

Adelaide United 0 Liverpool 2

Summer signings James Milner and Danny Ings grabbed the goals to earn Liverpool a 2-0 friendly victory against Adelaide United on Monday.

In front of more than 53,000 spectators Milner scored after 67 minutes when he converted an Ibe square ball whilst Ings grabbed his late on as he latched onto a through ball from another new signing - Nathaniel Clyne.

Brendan Rodgers: "It's been an absolute pleasure to be in Australia. For some of our people and staff it's their first time, but I was very lucky to come here for the first time when we were here two years ago.

"This trip has been equally as enjoyable. To have had over 100,000 supporters over the two games on the other side of the world tells you about the passion of the people here for the club.

"It's been a great honour and I'd come back here as soon as we possibly could, for sure. We leave tomorrow with a heavy heart because when you play in front of those supporters, it means so much.

"It's been very humbling how we've been received and hopefully we can come back."

Maccabi Haifa 1 Norwich City 0

MACCABI Haifa inflicted the first defeat of Norwich City's pre-season as they edged a tight match 1-0 in Kufstein, Austria.

Alon Turgeman got the game's only goal late in the first half, and although Alex Neil's team dominated the second period they couldn't make the breakthrough.

Alex Neil: “Bearing in mind how many changes we made, in the second half there were many positives to take

“We were totally dominant. We definitely should have scored. We had a good few opportunities and we didn’t take any of them.

“In the first half it was a bit of an itsy-bitsy game, but they probably had more opportunities than us. I didn’t think our pressing was up to scratch."
