Finally in our pre-season round up today there is news of a goal for former Swans star Scott Sinclair as Aston Villa win and there are also positive results for Manchester United and Leicester who finally open their pre-season fixtures

Lincoln City 1 Leicester City 3

Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City reign began with an impressive 3-1 victory over Lincoln City at Sincil Bank in their first pre-season outing on Tuesday night.

Lincoln’s Alan Power opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 10 minutes but the Foxes levelled courtesy of a neat finish from Riyad Mahrez to go in level at the break.

Goals from Andrej Kramaric and Jamie Vardy in the second half though gave the Foxes a winning start to their pre-season campaign

Claudio Ranieri: "The performance was good, first of all because nobody is injured and that’s important for me and secondly because we won the match.

“The first 20 minutes were very, very hard because Lincoln have already played three matches in pre-season but for us it was a first 45 minutes.

“But after 20 or 25 minutes I saw the players move better, play on the floor and we scored a great goal. The second half was much better, faster and the strikers moved very well.”

Swindon Town 0 Aston Villa 2

Jordan Amavi made a winning start to his Villa career as Tim Sherwood's men saw off Swindon in their latest pre-season encounter.

The French full-back only linked up with his new team-mates on Monday but was thrust straight into action at the County Ground, playing 77 minutes against the League One outfit.

It was another productive evening for Sherwood and his players as they claimed a first win of the campaign thanks to goals from former Swan Scott Sinclair and substitute Jerell Sellars.

Manchester United 3 San Jose Earthquakes 1

Memphis Depay netted his first Manchester United goal as Louis van Gaal’s men secured a 3-1 victory over San Jose Earthquakes in an entertaining encounter in California on Tuesday night.

The Dutchman’s effort — a calm low finish after he took advantage of a wayward backpass — was sandwiched between efforts from Juan Mata and substitute Andrea Pereira, who also netted his first goal for the senior team at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose.
