Watford are beaten in South Wales by a Joe Mason double at the Cardiff City Stadium but there are wins for West Ham over Norwich and Bournemouth are victorious again

Cardiff City 2 Watford 1

Watford suffered their first defeat of pre-season, going down 2-1 away at Cardiff City this evening (Tuesday).

Troy Deeney scored his second goal in two games for the Hornets, but two Joe Mason goals secured the victory for the home side.

Mason gave City the lead on 19 minutes, before a well taken goal by Deeney drew the Hornets level. However, Mason secured the victory for Cardiff on 80 minutes, as he coolly slotted past Arlauskis in the Watford goal.

Norwich 0 West Ham 1

WEST Ham United edged Norwich City out 1-0 in their special friendly played to mark 80 years of football at Carrow Road.

The two sides met in the first match at the Canaries' home ground back in 1935, with City winning 4-3 on that occasion, and the Club put on a number of events to commemorate the special anniversary.

It was Londoners who came out on top this time around, however, after Harry Toffolo deflected Dmitri Payet's cross into his own net eight minutes prior to the final whistle.

Alex Neil: “I thought in the first five minutes we looked a little bit edgy but then I thought we settled down and after that, we zipped the ball about really well and created some good opportunities.

“Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get a goal when we were on top. Up to the 60-minute mark, we were the better side and moved it really well."

Yeovil 0 Bournemouth 3

The Cherries put on a professional display to seal a 3-0 victory in their pre-season fixture against Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

A Junior Stanislas double and a lone strike from Joshua King ensured the Cherries enjoyed yet another successful run out as they head into the back end of their pre-season schedule.

Eddie Howe: “We kept a clean sheet and scored three goals, so it was a good night

“Being criticial, as we need to be to improve, I think we could have done better in front of goal.

“In the main, the application and attitude was good and we know there is more to come.”
