Swans Explain Friendly Cancellation

The Swans have explained their reasons behind the cancellation of a friendly with Haverfordwest County after the Welsh Premier side criticised them on social media for the short notice cancellation.

And it certainly appears that it is more of a postponement rather than a cancellation of the game with the Swans offering to rearrange for a date later in the season as they look to continue the good relationships that they want to have with local clubs.

Haverfordwest's statement over the weekend highlighted their disappointment especially coming so soon after another game was called off against Cardiff City.

Explaining the decision though the Swans spokesman said “The game was hastily arranged on the Thursday and cancelled on the Sunday.

“Unfortunately a number of the under-21s are required to supplement the first-team training programme this week while a few also returned from the pre-season tour to Holland carrying injuries.

“The club would normally then supplement with players from the under-18s squad but they are currently competing in a tournament in Prague.

“The club has apologised profusely to Haverfordwest and offered to rearrange the friendly fixture later in the season to fit around their league programme.

“Swansea City took a team to Haverfordwest last season and remain committed to assisting and building good relationships with the local footballing fraternity wherever possible.”
