Tom Carroll was on target for Spurs as they won their final pre-season match but good news potentially for the Swans was Chelsea losing at Stamford Bridge to Paulo Sousa's Fiorentina.

AC Milan 0 Tottenham 2

Spurs ended their pre-season in style with a 2-0 win over AC Milan at the Allianz Arena.

The third/fourth play-off was won with two fine goals as well - first Nacer Chadli's curler into the top corner on eight minutes before former Swans loanee Tom Carroll provided a finish worthy of Kieran Trippier's pass with 70 minutes on the clock.

Mauricio Pochettino: “I’m very pleased with the way we played, we played Real Madrid yesterday, AC Milan tonight and it was a fantastic experience for us.

“We scored fantastic goals and created a lot of chances. We enjoyed good possession as well. Against Real Madrid, we had nearly 60% possession, today it was the same or more. We played at a really good level.”

Chelsea 0 Fiorentina 1

Chelsea's pre-season campaign ended in defeat against Fiorentina but there were positives to take as Jose Mourinho was able to hand much-needed minutes to virtually all of his squad, as well as coming through the 90 minutes with no fresh injury concerns.

The scoreline was harsh on the Blues, who dominated possession and carved out some decent opportunities, but Gonzalo Rodriguez’s close-range finish after 34 minutes proved decisive.

Jose Mourinho: "I thank Fiorentina for the good training session because it was a competitive training session

"The players that didn’t play on Sunday played 60 minutes, for the others it was 30 minutes. Hopefully there were no injuries.

"We have the real football on Saturday and today we couldn’t face this game in another way. We got competitive minutes against a good team who played for a result and gave us a very good training session. It’s a long season with 10 months of competition, and I’m happy with where we are."
