As ever we take time in the build up to our next match to look at how our opponents got on in their last match. And after an unbeaten start to the season, the focus for Manchester United turned to Champions League progression.

It turned into a bit of a breeze for Man Utd really as they qualified for the group stages of the competition thanks to Wayne Rooney who scored a hat-trick to emphatically end his goal drought.

Rooney's first goals for Man Utd since April and one from Ander Herrera gave the English side a comprehensive 7-1 aggregate victory and the perfect setup for their visit to the Liberty on Sunday afternoon.

Rooney scored his first with a dinked shot for his first goal of the season.

The striker had a simple tap-in for his second goal after midfielder Ander Herrera's unselfish pass.

Rooney swept in a shot for his third and Herrera sidefooted in before Javier Hernandez missed a United penalty.

Louis Van Gaal: "I'm very happy for him [Rooney]," Van Gaal told BT Sport.

"He was generous to give the ball to Chica, but it was a slip I think.

"He has the best mentality that you can imagine and such players with that level will always come back.

"This was a glorious night, it's not easy to do this what we have done but Swansea City is the most important match now."
