Van Gaal Admits Monk Outfoxed Him

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal admitted what we could all see at the end of yesterday's game that Garry Monk's tactical change was the one thing that made the difference as the Swans scored twice in five minutes to secure a third consecutive win over Van Gaal.

The visitors had not long been a goal ahead when Monk made the change that saw Wayne Routledge depart and Ki Sung-Yeung come into the game and it made a lot of difference for the Swans as they scored twice quickly after and turned the game on it's head.

Man Utd were having the bulk of the possession up to that point but in fairness the Swans also had the best of the chances as they looked to soak up the pressure that I suspect we expected from the game.

Routledge without a doubt did not have the attacking threat that Montero has shown in the past few games and the change made a massive difference as our visitors looked like they could not cope with the change in formation.

Van Gaal said on Sky Sports: "The opponent changed their shape and we could not cope, that is not good.

"We lost in that five minutes and it is a pity because we controlled the game.

"You have to be compact, we were probably too dominant to have the sense to do that.

"We could have scored much more goals, that is not the problem. You need a little bit of luck."
