Surprised At Dyer Move
Tuesday, 1st Sep 2015 20:14 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

I was surprised to hear of Leicester City and Nathan Dyer earlier on today as I had assumed that the squad we had put together was the squad we were going forward with but clearly that was not meant to be.

One of the things we have spoken about much this season is the need to ensure that we have a settled squad and we have been told several times that we have what we want at the club after what had been a very successful transfer window - and still is.

Maybe it was just the way that we had been talking but I genuinely thought that we would get through today without any surprise departures - we knew we wanted rid of Michu and Tiendalli was no surprise - but to loan Nathan to another Premier League was a bit surprising.

I'm not sure how long this particular move has been brewing but clearly we were comfortable in letting it happen and certainly comfortable enough that we did not get a replacement in.

That says much I guess about the game time that we anticipated Nathan having this season and I would imagine from here we will bring back Mo Barrow from Blackburn as well to give us the same number of options that we have when Nathan was here.

Nathan has been an excellent servant of this football club in his 6 years now and could well be again as a loan move means he could be back at Swansea next year. Forget the surprise of the move, it could be one that the player wanted to get more first team action and we should not begrudge him that although if that was the case then maybe a permanent deal would have been better?

Anyway, when all is done and dusted so is the transfer window and now we can get on with the business of the football ahead.
