"Ash Is Good Enough To Play Champions League"

You only have to look at the Manchester United game on Sunday to realise just how good Ashley Williams is and think of his two tackles on Wayne Rooney - one in each half - that were a massive part in why the Swans recorded a third successive win over their visitors.

It is something we have grown used to with Ashley Williams over several years at the club which have proved that the money we paid Stockport for him could well be classed as the best piece of transfer business we have ever done.

To take that kind of player and help him develop into one of the top central defenders in Europe says much and while things are flying for the Swans at the moment he has taken his momentum into the international game and next summer could well be the first Wales captain since 1958 to lead his side out at a major international finals.

Ben Davies knows Ash as well as anyone having played alongside him for two years at Swansea as well as on the international stage and he is of no doubt as to the quality of the Swans and Wales skipper.

I think he's just a proper leader," said the Spurs full-back

"Watching the game against Manchester United, Ash always seems to be in the right place at the right time. It gives you a massive boost to know someone as solid as that is playing alongside you, someone who can pick you up when things aren't going well.

"Us boys in the changing room have had this conversation many times. We can't believe someone hasn't come in with a crazy offer," added Davies.

"I think Ash could play in any team in the Premier League and play in every game of the season.

"He's one of the best centre-halves in the league and I think it's crazy that no-one has come in, especially with the amount of money going around at the moment. I think he's good enough to play in the Champions League."
