Monk Praise For Tottenham Boss

Garry Monk will face up to Mauricio Pochettino tomorrow afternoon looking to extend a couple of miserable records for the Swans - a seven match losing streak to Spurs and a four match winless run this season.

Things looked so good for the Swans when they returned to action following the last international break. We were fourth in the league and in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

But defeats to Watford, Hull and Southampton have put and end to that and we have just one point - a home one against Everton - from the past few weeks as we have slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table.

We can change that record tomorrow with a win but it will need to be recording a first Premier League win against Tottenham if we are to record at least one win during this mini period of the season.

Garry Monk knows it will be a tough game but he has revealed his admiration for his opposite number who is hoping to lead his side into the Champions League places this season.

"I've had conversations with him before and after games and I really like him," Swansea manager Monk said of the Argentinian, now in his second season at White Hart Lane.

"He's a very forward-thinking coach and I think he's probably made Tottenham a more efficient outfit.

"Before they always had an image of playing very good football, but maybe being a bit fancy at times and a bit too lax in certain areas.

"But he's tightened them up and made them a bit more solid and more aggressive.

"They've got really good players but there's more of a work ethic in the team now.

"Last year you could see it was starting to progress and speaking to him, it was a process he was going through.

"This season I think you've seen him progress it even more."
