Swansea v Tottenham Hotspur - Match Preview
Sunday, 4th Oct 2015 08:01 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

The Premier League will head into its second international break of the season this afternoon as the Swans look to end a four game winless streak against Tottenham at the Liberty.

It is complete contrast for the Swans at the moment who headed into the last international break in fourth place in the league and on the back of an unbeaten start to the season and a win over Manchester United.

Defeats at Watford, Hull and Southampton and a draw at home to Everton have made this mini period of the season a particularly bleak one for the Swans and it is not going to get any easier with Spurs on the back of seven straight wins against us.

But records are there to be ended and today would be a perfect day to end both those records before Garry Monk sees his squad despatched to various corners of the world on international duty.

Whatever happens this afternoon it has still overall been a reasonable start to the season for the Swans but Garry will want to ensure that we return to winning ways and not head into a two week break still in search of a victory.

Last season at the Liberty we pushed Tottenham hard all the way and were desperately unlucky not to get the win that we probably deserved and we lost in the end to a sucker punch having been the best team for large periods of the game.

I am sure that if you asked any Swans fan at the moment they would take a win no matter how it happened but one thing that will be asked for is pride and passion in the performance, something that has been missing in some of the games since we returned from the last international break.

From our point of view as fans we need to be fully behind the team as normal and try and make the difference that can spur (pardon the pun) us onto victory.

We can do it.

Team News

Garry once again has the luxury of a fit squad to choose from and it will be interesting to see what he does with it.

There have been calls for widespread changes following the defeat last week at Southampton but to make too many would in my view be like a panic reaction which I don't think is needed.

With a two week break ahead of the players then we need our full strength team performing at the top of their game to get something out of this and that is why I am not expecting many changes at all.

However, if it was me at the moment then I would be tempted to bring in Barrow for Sigurdsson to give the side some extra width which would leave us lining up like this

Score Predictions

The one thing that the Premier League isn't this season is predictable. Just when you are not expecting one result it goes and happens and after they destroyed Manchester City last weekend nobody is really expecting Spurs to do anything other than win today.

For that reason alone I think the Swans will put in one of their top performances this afternoon and run out winners to end the day in the top half of the table.

It won't be easy but I think we will do it - 2-1 Swans.
