Monk Remains Confident Things Will Pick Up

Garry Monk is a manager who doesn't have things going his way at the moment. A harsh penalty was enough to send his side to defeat at Anfield today and that means the run has now extended to just one win in eleven.

But he can take great heart from a much improved display that showed that his side can still play the passing game that we have enjoyed so much over the past few years.

On an afternoon where many predicted an easy win for Liverpool, the Swans tested their hosts severely and can certainly be disappointed not to leave Anfield with at least a point after the performance.

"I feel gutted for the players as I thought we were excellent today" said Monk. “I felt we deserved more than what we got.

“We limited a very good Liverpool side to pretty much nothing, and when we had the ball, we had good spells of possession.

“I have to give full credit to the players. Everyone was working well and they were determined to get us out of this period. I don’t think we looked like a team struggling today.

“It was a very good away performance against an excellent team, but unfortunately decisions went against us today. It was a soft penalty and it was disappointing to lose on a decision that was out of our hands.

“Slight decisions are going against us at the moment. It’s only a matter of time before that turns.

“We’ll take confidence from this performance and we’re confident that results will pick up.”
