Swans v Norwich - Match Preview

After a huge victory at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal, Swansea City turn their intentions towards an important clash down the bottom of the table against a struggling Norwich City side.

The Canaries have not won a league match since January 2nd and sit 18th in the Premier League table, just inside the relegation zone. Norwich have conceded the joint highest amount of league goals this season in the Premier League with 53 goals. Norwich have also conceded 31 goals away from home this season. The last time these two teams met Norwich came out victorious with a 1-0 win at Carrow Road.

Swansea come into the game against Norwich boasting a 1-2 win at Arsenal on Wednesday evening. The Swans battled back from 1-0 and showed tremendous character to win the 3 points and put a serious dent in Arsenal’s title challenge. Swansea are now 6 points above the relegation zone and 6 points above Norwich in the Premier League table.

Swansea have no new injury worries ahead of the game against Norwich. Swansea made 6 changes to the team against Arsenal, with the likes of Wayne Routledge, Bafetimbi Gomis and Stephen Kingsley coming into the XI. Leroy Fe- a former Norwich player - could retain his place in the team after an impressive full debut.

Right-back Andre Wisdom continues to be sidelined for Norwich with a knee problem. While Sebastian Bassong should be able to recover from a knock that caused him to miss the defeat to Chelsea. Striker Steven Naismith also missed the defeat to Chelsea with a knock and is a doubt to face the Swans. Norwegian midfielder Alex Tettey will definitely miss out and will be having an X-Ray on a leg injury suffered against Chelsea. Gary O’Neil and Robbie Brady should be fit after a sickening clash of heads caused Brady to lose two teeth.

Swansea City Players to Watch


Gylfi Sigurdsson- Sigurdsson’s form has improved ever since Italian coach Francesco Guidolin has arrived at Swansea. Even though Sigurdsson started on the bench against Arsenal, when he was introduced at half-time he turned the game on its head and added much more of a creative spark. Sigurdsson also provided the assist for Swansea’s winning goal.

Jack Cork- Although not known for his goal scoring and attacking side to the game, Cork has become a piovital figure in the Swans lineup, Cork will break up and the play and send the Swans straight on the attack. Cork also provided a vital assist for Wayne Routledge against Arsenal. Cork showed that not only can he defend and break up the play, he can also play an important part going forward.

Norwich City Players to Watch


Nathan Redmond- Redmond began the season very impressive and is also Norwich’s top goal scorer this season with 5 goals. Redmond scored his first goal since October in the 1-2 defeat against Chelsea on Tuesday. Redmond is still only 21 and has a bright future ahead of him and will hope to score another goal against Swansea on Saturday.

Robbie Brady- Republic of Ireland midfielder Robbie Brady has been one of the main sources of goals in the Norwich team. Brady is a free-kick specialist with a special left foot. Although not always deployed in his favoured position out wide, Brady is still one of Norwich’s main attacking threats. Brady has mainly been deployed as a wing back in a 5-4-1 formation most recently against Chelsea.
