Guidolin Happy With Chelsea Point

When you are up against one of the title favourites and you take a point it is little wonder that a manager is going to be happy with that gain especially when you factor in the difference between the two sides in the first half in particular.

Francesco Guidolin experimented - at the admittance of Alan Curtis - with the team yesterday and was forced to make a change before the interval to change the formation but he can have had no complaints come the end of the game thanks to goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Leroy Fer which threatened to give us a win that was not at all expected.

It wasn't to be though as a late goal from Diego Costa secured a point for the visitors in a game that was shadowed a little but not so much after much controversy but a typical bias from the media towards the "big teams"

However, Guidolin was keen to point out the positives from his team

“This game was very difficult for us because Chelsea are a very strong team,” Guidolin said.

“We won against them three or four months ago, but now Chelsea are another team.

“We are happy because we changed something when my team needed a reaction.

“Probably because of the change of shape, we played in the second half with more aggression, energy and intensity, and in the end we are happy with the result.

“This result is important for us. Chelsea did not deserve to lose, but we deserved something because we fought in the second half and played with more intensity.

“We have to improve, this is sure, but this point is important for us.

“Now we can work in the week to get better with enthusiasm and optimism.”
