Stats Guru Targets Ntep

You know that modern day football works in a different way to when many of us started to watch the game but when you read a headline like the above one you know that it has changed beyond recognition for many of us.

Today's Sun reports that we have made Rennes winger Paul-Georges Ntep a target "on the advice of new American stats guru Dan Altman" who they also suggest has large influence at the Liberty following his recent appointment.

It is probably accepted in recent years that the analysis of players will have just as much impact as actually watching a player play but we have to hope that the balance between the two is equal and this is not just a "he was good on football manager" type target.

Of course we have a new manager involved in the process as well and it will be essential that he gives the final green light to any player coming into the club where he sees the player as someone who can add something to our squad and give us extra depth and options as we fight to retain our Premier League place.

The paper reports that Cameroon born Ntep - who has two caps for France - could be tempted to move to the Premier League even with us struggling at the wrong end of the table.

Time will tell on this one.

Will we have new players in before the Arsenal game?
