Good Business So Far

There were so many positives at Liverpool yesterday that we could talk about them all day but two of the key ones were the debuts for Tom Carroll and Marin Olsson both of whom were superb in their first appearances for the side.

OK strictly speaking for Carroll it was not his debut as he has been here before but you get the gist of what we are saying.

For a man who had played just one minute in the Premier League prior to yesterday he kept himself going all day and, of course, was instrumental in both the second and third goals as the Swans won their first ever league game at Anfield.

His movement around the pitch was tremendous and it was easy to see why Paul Clement was so happy to have him here with his squad and should have silenced some of the doubts that were raised when the Swans were first linked.

Likewise Olsson had an excellent game with his forward play and certainly added more to us going forward as his own part in the second goal demonstrated.

Left back has been an area we have looked weak in over the past couple of years since the departure of Ben Davies and the early sign with Olsson is that he is capable of stepping up and making the difference in that position.

As you would guess Paul Clement was also happy to see his two newcomers make such an immediate impact into the side “I thought they both did really well,” he said.

"Martin is athletic and can get forward and he is a good footballer.

“And Tom showed what a good footballer he is. I was a little worried that he might not last the whole game as he had not played 90 minutes for a long time, but he showed how fit he is.
“He got around the pitch and made a wonderful contribution to the second goal.”

A very good start to our business in the transfer window and hopefully a good sign of things to come.
