Clement Rules Out Lopez Move

Paul Clement has ruled out any deal for Benfica's Lisandro Lopez by saying that there was no more than interest on our part despite the paper talk of detailed discussions around a possible loan move.

The Swans have - in the past 24 hours - been linked with moves for three separate central defenders but it looks almost certain as if we will stick with the four that we have at the club as we battle to retain our Premier League place.

Federico Fernandez and Alfie Mawson have staked their claim in Clement's tenure to be the Swans first choice and with Van Der Hoorn and Amat in back up it does seem as if this is going to be what we have to work with to shore up a defence that has been breached 51 times so far in the Premier League this season.

Speaking at today's press conference when asked about Lopez, Clement said “We were interested but it went no further than that and that deal will not happen.

“We have four centre-backs and I think at this point that they will be the four we have once the window is closed."
