Beat The Bookie - Sheffield Wednesday
Saturday, 15th Dec 2018 08:39 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

The wind and rain won't be the only factors the Swans will have to overcome at the Liberty this afternoon as they welcome Sheffield Wednesday for their last home game before Christmas and looking to build on last week's excellent result at Brentford.

Being 3-0 up inside half hour is a wonderful feeling but in true Swans fashion we allowed the Bees to come back into it last week and only the woodwork in stoppage time prevented us coming away with just a point which would have been as demoralising as any of the three consecutive defeats prior to that.

But home form is key to us from here on in and we have to start picking points back up at the Liberty with 14 points from 30 to date not being the kind of return that we would want to pick up.

With the news that Martin Olsson will now miss the rest of the season the Swans have more limited options at the back and should be an area that we move into cover for in the transfer window especially as - not surprisingly - Wilfried Bony is yet again the subject of a late fitness test.

Looking at the odds for the game, the Swans are the clear favourites for the game with Bet UK at odds of 20/29 compared to the visitors at 15/4 with the draw available for those that fancy it at 29/10.

Wayne Routledge opened the scoring for the Swans last weekend and if you fancy him to do the same again then it is 6/1 which I am not sure screams the value that Routledge to score first really should (value maybe being the wrong word - long odds probably better placed in there!)

I always try to look for value and am convinced that Connor Roberts at 25/1 will one day come good for me with the first goal although at 9/1 to score any time it may suggest better value.

I can see us keeping a clean sheet in this game though and for a win to nil then odds of 37/20 do seem good value to me and probably worth of a quid of two of your Christmas pot.

We haven't been beaten three league games in a row at home ever at the Liberty (the last time was 2004) which is a stat that can give you confidence and panic in equal measures ahead of the game but my last tip is a very long one (and not value odds necessarily but one I just fancy) and that is the Swans to win 4-0, 5-0 or 6-0 which is available at 11/1.

We have teamed up again with the Swans official sponsors BetUK to share some of these odds and you can still win a signed Swans shirt with them by clicking the link below
