Max Watters was an hilarious watch, as Neil Harris apparently ‘swooped’ to steal him from under Swansea City’s noses. Well, let’s see how that pans out for Cardiff, they’ve destroyed Harry Wilson in the last four months, his football now eroded to a player with no confidence and who looks completely lost.

The Republic of Ireland international has fallen down the pecking order under Villa manager Dean Smith this season. Hourihane has played just five times in all competitions in 2020/21, with new signings such as Ross Barkley and Bertrand Traore keeping him out of the side. Swansea have already spoken to Villa, Dean Smith clearly wants to let him go, the fans are not happy, if the swans sign this player in the coming days it will be a real coup.

Yet what if Hourihane had the opportunity to stay in the Premier League for the remainder of this term? The Blades are known to be in the market for a midfielder and boss Chris Wilder is targeting two loan signings this month. Jesse Lingard has been strongly linked, but apparently the Manchester United man is reluctant to join a relegation fight.

Wilder needs proven Premier League quality if his team are to pull off a remarkable comeback and avoid the drop this season. Which isn’t easy to come by on a temporary basis. It’s why Lingard is such an attractive option. Yet while not as experienced in the division, Hourihane has proven himself in the top flight of English football. In 2019/20, the Irishman scored three goals and provided five assists in 27 league games as Villa avoided relegation on the final day. Hourihane could easily slot into the Blades’ midfield three and would also provide some attacking impetus.

Of course it is to be expected, Wilder hardly comes across as an individual with a lot of grey matter when it comes to the way he communicates and talks in the media. Another club happy to leach away at others expense. If I were this type of person in the workplace I would be extremely embarrassed.

Morris, who has 10 goals in 39 USMNT games, was the subject of European speculation before turning pro. He was strongly linked to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen back in 2016, though a formal move to the German club never developed.

Now, reportedly facing newfound interest from a Swansea City side jostling for a Premier League return for the first time since 2017-18, perhaps the timing makes sense. Any departure would create a sizable hole for Seattle, though, especially with how effective he’s become alongside the likes of Raul Ruidiaz and Nicolas Lodeiro.

It was a strange one because Swansea played a different kind of football that day, which was a surprise. “It will be a tough game against a club who are going for the Premier League. But we now know more about them and we will be prepared, more ready on this occasion, however they decide to play.
