Cooper is delighted - The Swans united
Wednesday, 14th Apr 2021 17:43 by Keith Haynes

After a second away game in succession and six points, plus five goals Swansea City boss Steve Cooper is delighted at the effort and pride his squad is putting in. The swans have almost certainly secured the play off spot they deserve after a season of ups and downs. Post match yesterday Cooper had much to say.

Another performance that silenced the hecklers ended in another three points last night - with Swansea City comfortably in the play off spots nine points ahead of seventh placed Reading. Now with two home games to go, the first on Saturday against Wycombe Wanderers ( kick off 12.30pm ) followed by QPR, the slight opportunity to put pressure on Watford in second place remains.

Post match Cooper eulogised, “It’s a fantastic result to come away from home and win 2-0,” said Cooper. “We scored two good goals, got a clean sheet and it’s now back-to-back away wins so that’s a good return when you factor in the travelling and the quick turnaround. “That can take its toll, and we know the games matter a bit more at this time of the season, so for us to get the three points is a real positive.

“We took a little settling into the game, the idea was to press and we are really pleased that worked for the first goal. “Andre has made a great decision and Jamal finishes well, and I really liked us from there. “I liked our positioning in the game, we limited them to little and the good save Freddie made in the first half was from our turnover”

“We controlled the game with and without the ball, and that’s always a good sign. “We created chances and we took them well. Jamal’s goal looks like an easy finish, but you have to be in the right position and you have to keep a calm head and back your technique.” “Then, for the second goal, Connor Roberts comes on, brings that energy to the game straight away and makes that run in behind. “He puts in a left-foot cross and for Jay to break away to score a header like that is fantastic as well”

“It just shows, our substitutes came on and helped us see the game out and I am really happy with all the squad tonight.“It was a real collective effort from a group who are together, trying to play a good style of football but also prepared to do the other side of the game too.”

Jamal Lowe who has scored three goals in two games was also delighted with his recent efforts and continued reward for hard work. It’s a brilliant team performance and a brilliant team goal,” said the Jamaica international. “We went on the press and Andre won the ball back. We were two-on-one with the goalie, and Andre squared it to me and all I had to do was put it in the net. It was very unselfish, and it typifies how we are as a team. It’s all about the team.“I’ve played football long enough to know you won’t score every game,” said the 26-year-old. “I trusted myself, kept working hard in training and in games, and I knew the goals would come”

“You’ve just got to work hard, make sure you’re in the right place and doing the right things. Then the quality and technique you work on every day can hopefully pay off. It would be great if I can go on a run again as we head towards the final few games.”

It seems the wagon is back on track, we will find out on Saturday, and this is another game that needs the sides full attention, no taking the eye off the ball, let’s continue the good form.

Can the swans make top two or will they make it to third or fourth in the play offs ?

I saw somewher on line the Jamal has the highest on target shot ration than any other leading championship goal scorer. 61%. He was of course accused of hitting the ball straight athe keeper earlir in the season. Other striker tend to 'sky' the ball. Pintado was like this.

wher jamal fell don on was 0 assists. As a former winger this is somewhet surpising. He owes Andre an assist.
