Thread of the Week - Paul Jewell's Interviews
Thread of the Week - Paul Jewell's Interviews
Wednesday, 27th Feb 2008 23:07

Sixmileram set the ball rolling with this thread about Paul Jewell's after-match interviews.

There was certainly a variety of opinions put  forward on this - and PJ surpassed himself on Saturday!

It hasn't taken long for disillusion to set in with Paul Jewell  by some RamZoners - and the predictable criticism after a defeat has dominated the entire season. However, on Saturday, after a very poor defeat yet again, the Manager made his strongest criticisms yet - remarks that must rank among the strongest ever by a Manager about his own team - and said that there were fraudsters in our team.

One of the hardest things to accept about this is that four of  his own signings started the game and two others were on the bench. Laurent Robert has been rather a waste of space - unsurprisingly some might say, he always seemed a bit of a luxury player for a team in our dire situation.

Alan Stubbs and Roy Carroll seem to be the only two players who are entitled to hold their heads high after Saturday's debacle.

On RamZone, a lot of criticism has gone in the direction of  Robbie Savage. It took many fans a lot of thinking and heartsearching to accept  Savage in a Derby shirt in the first place - let alone as captain - and having accepted him into the fold everyone hoped his tenacity would help us avoid a  shameful end to the season. Unfortunately Savage has been diabolical in a Derby shirt, not withstanding he is said to have a series of niggling injuries, his passing has been awry and his passion for the game seems to have vanished.

On the RamZone Message Board this week there has been not only a call for him to stand down as captain and hand the armband over to Stubbs, but he is considered by many to be the worst Derby captain *ever*. That thread was another contender for Thread of the Week.

It's certainly good to see the RamZone MB getting busier again and some good debate as we used to have it on the old site. Change is often difficult to cope with but the new RamZone site will grow with time and the MB will regain its cutting edge.

Thanks to sixmileram for initiating the Thread of the Week - and to all other posters on that thread and all others. Keep those opinions coming in!
