The future is unwritten for Swansea and Steve Cooper.
Wednesday, 21st Jul 2021 15:41 by Keith Haynes

It isn’t a nice feeling when you report things that are not going to be taken well. Especially when the main story is Steve Cooper leaving the swans, which in turn keeps transfers away from the club as well. Taking things on the chin are a fact of life, especially when you run a football website.

People, especially our social media platforms do attack our reports at every given opportunity when they hear things they don’t want to hear, and generally say and do things online they wouldn’t dream of in reality. We forgive them to an extent, especially the young millennials who have only known Swansea City in the higher and highest leagues. And of course as major trophy winners.

Yes, we have reported Steve Cooper leaving for weeks, in various guises. He was never going to stay when we knew he had accepted approaches to be interviewed by Crystal Palace and Fulham. And Swansea City were definitely not going to keep him after all that. We’ve said it before, would you if you were the employer of Steve Cooper ?

We will state this again, our research in to the information we know, and that is speculated is analysed meticulously, not just rushed out to get clicks. And hopefully we can all take a breath now, but we won’t apologise for reporting factual content, just because certain folk don’t like it. The other issue is the player who was to come in this week. We have the full details as well, but won’t say anything just yet so as to not jeopardise any hope of rekindling that deal now Cooper has gone. It’s unlikely, this weeks happenings have jeopardised everything.

Steve Cooper did a magnificent job at Swansea City as did Mike Marsh who hasn’t been seen at the club for nine days. We thank them for the hope they brought us and the times when we really did get excited about what could be. For us it was time for them to move on, and no doubt more will leave with them. That’s football, we’ve seen it all before, from not having a club, to fighting to get our club back, to congratulating the few who took all the plaudits, whilst many were forgotten.

From a Jack to a King.

It’s been an interesting week, one which was always going to end this way, and as soon as we get news on Cameron Toshack or any other candidate about to fill Coopers shoes we will of course let you know. The legal paperwork must have been arduous for Julian Winter and co this week. To protect the club and it’s resources we know were a clear priority. Maybe people should take a moment to reflect on that before attacking them as well ?

We have a well run club, we have some superb young players with ambition and we are financially stable, it’s not all bad, and as we say in our headline the future is unwritten, but as ever we will try to write it as best we can, well, we are Swansea Independent after all.
