The race for Swansea City’s Flynn Downes is seemingly won by Crystal Palace according to Tom Coleman at Wales on Line. ( via Alex Crook at Talk Soort ) In an incredible twenty four hour turn around the fee which is mooted at around nine million pounds seems more done than not.

Just two days ago we had sources telling us Downes would only consider a move to Leeds United, however that now seems to be out of his hands. The very fact he stated he would move seems good enough for the swans. They have moved quickly to address interest from Palace.

With the lure of premier league wages Downes looks likely to depart Swansea this week.

Swansea Independent viewpoint: Of all the players who could have left this summer Downes seemed the most unlikely. His comments we took at face value regards next season and working with Russell Martin. Now it seems even he can have his head turned by the premier league. Many swans fans will be upset at this latest disclosure but if this move does go through it paves the way for the return of Joe Allen.

It was the only way he could return to Swansea City.
