Burnley’s new striker, the most unprofessional player Swansea City have experienced in many years
Sunday, 29th Jan 2023 13:54 by Keith Haynes

You can call Michael Obafemi what you like, but the state of football today and the mercenary attitude of players who couldn’t even lace the boots of their contemporaries of old is more evident today than ever. Those who made Swansea City great, who enabled these spoilt children to function in their own pathetic world will most certainly be extremely unhappy with todays selfish agenda.

Putting themselves first, the likes of Obafemi are prime examples of a footballer who has no self awareness, no thought for those who want to help him and definitely no care for the community that has supported him. He was a non entity at Southampton, and even there when he was literally nobody he thought he could hold people to ransom.

At the start of his ridiculous disciplinary issues, his failure to turn up for training on time, a lack of professionalism and persistent questioning of the clubs coaching staff which unsettled numerous squad players was just the start. We are not going to get in to a squabble with regards to his behaviour, and what he ‘actually did’ in front of his team mates but suffice to say it was not in any way what any Swansea follower would want to see from a player taking £48,000 a month out of the club.

And then the poor soul couldn’t handle not getting what he wanted in the summer when Burnley came in for him. It’s such a hard life. A young man who should have been enjoying his entitled life and his football turned most of his time at Swansea in to such a negative period that not only ruined any chance he had, he encouraged others to act the same.

And he probably didn’t even know he was doing it.

He spent a lot of time on the sidelines leading Jamie Paterson with him in a unscrupulous campaign against Russell Martin’s training regime. The basic qualities required of a player who outside of Swansea, especially in the premier league, was a complete unknown. Much the same as he is today. If he thinks he is going to stroll in to Vincent Kompany’s side and dictate what is going to happen then he has a huge shock coming. The finer detail of his loan move isn’t known, but surely one of the caveats isn’t his behaviour ? If it is then Burnley would invoke that as soon as he kicked off, and Swansea, although having his overpriced salary paid for by Burnley would be back to square one.

He will most likely prove to be of some value for the Clarets initially, but as he experiences the demands of a world class ex player in Vincent Kompany and the desires of his new side he will most certainly resort to type. He seems to have spent his whole football life in a state of selfishness and without any awareness of the effect he has on others. Whether he can learn or not only time will tell, but Swansea City are better off without this manipulative entity in their squad. He is the product of a football world that encourages stupidity and rewards unprofessionalism. He couldn’t care about Swansea City, he never did, and it was always about him and what he could have.

And that alone is evidence enough for any Swansea City fan to wave him a long goodbye and hope we never see him again anywhere near our club.

Ever.

Nile Ranger, Ravel Morrsison seemed to have lost a lot whereas Dele Alli and Jessi Lingaard are still cashing in at least for another season. .
