What a week that was for Swansea City on the Indy !
Sunday, 7th May 2023 13:47 by Swansea Independent

It’s been seven days of news, views and surprises as we have followed Swansea City in all its guises on the pitch and most certainly off it. The foundations are being laid for the 2023/24 football season at the club and the work has been ongoing for three months and more.

Although announcements haven’t been made officially regards staff leaving and joining they are very much underway and known across the club and its fanbase. We have always said this site has never been about being first - but when information that can be reported is with us, and matches up with other analysis, it has to be told.

Russell Martin was disappointed after his sides 1-1 draw at Hull City after the mast away game of the season last weekend, which possibly indicates how far the team have come over the last ten games. However it was Josh Marsh who took the first headlines last Sunday. That’s our first week in review.

No matter what people think Morgan Whittaker is classed as a ‘wantaway’ player at The Swans. Deciding to travel down to Plymouth and then sat next to the clubs head of recruitment was definitely him making a statement to not only Swansea City who pay his wages but to Plymouth Argyle as well. An orchestrated ( we won’t say well orchestrated ) signal he won’t be at Swansea next season.

That’s all here –> Is Morgan being an organ ?

Obviously rumours have been rife especially around the Swansea area of a club takeover. That isn’t the case and won’t be. The next article this past week summarises that with context. It cited changes ahead and new investment in excess of ten million pounds. We were happy to disclose this.

We had a few memories to catch up with post Hull City. Not least concerning old friend of the site and now sadly departed Lyn Phillips, who did his bit prior to ‘that’ Hull City game.

Then Julian Winter the clubs CEO joined the rumour mill at Swansea City.

That’s here –> A bleak Winter ahead

News reached us that Russell Martin will be selecting his first team squad initially from what he has not what he wants this summer. Of course there is room for manoeuvre, but from ‘within’ was the key word of the day.

Then the unusual Friday match day build up took a back seat when we learned late on Thursday evening Andy Coleman took the role of club Chairman. So where does this leave Julian Winter ?

There are other interesting reports on the Swans from last week including the finalising of fines for the Swan v Preston on the pitch bust up. We always strive to deliver the best and most insightful reports on this website, we hope you have enjoyed reading and catching up with Wales premier football club once again this weekend
