Swansea City and the Transfer Window : Jodi Jones profiled Tuesday, 16th Jan 2024 17:23 by Keith Haynes It’s profile time again, today is Jodi Jones day. We will have a look at his career to date and why he is becoming of interest to clubs in League One and two others in the Championship. Jones has been described as diminutive ( he is 5’7”) alert and with some pace. He has had a splendid League Two season this time around, but it hasn’t always been a story of success. He is London born (within the sound of bow bells) and at twenty six is really performing well after falling out with football after numerous rejections. So far Jodi has a reported sixteen assists and four goals this season. ![]() The Athletic : Jodi Jones grew up in east London and played for the same team that produced the likes of David Beckham, Sol Campbell and Jermain Defoe. He was a typical teenager who dreamed of playing for England. ![]() The issue for Jodi is his injury history although it hasn’t plagued him since he joined Notts County when they were in the National League. There have been three quite bad injuries, one which kept him out for sixteen months before signing on at Meadow Lane. One injury scuppering a move to Leeds United. Since his arrival at County he has gone from strength to strength and obvious links with him and his ex manager Luke Williams should be expected. Jodi also has twelve international caps for Malta. That continued recognition came as a result of his consistent Notts County performances. This season his assists are what has got people talking, fifteen to date in twenty three games. He has also weighed in with four goals. His stint last season was on loan, it was only in the summer he signed permanently. Everyone with even short term memory loss will recall the result : Grimsby Town 5 Notts County 5 last Saturday ? Jodi assisted four of those goals in a crazy match. That equals Harry Kane’s record. Notts County are in blue, Jodi is in the number ten shirt. If we go back to the start of Jodi’s career things couldn’t have gone any better, after a successful time at Dagenham in League Two he earned a four year contract at Coventry City. However, that was the time his big knee injury kicked in and almost year and a half out in recovery. A year at Oxford United didn’t go well after that but Luke Williams rescued him at a crucial time. Jodi confirms this in a tweet earlier this month. ![]() I learnt so much & feel so lucky to have had the chance to work with you. You took a chance & believed in me when not many did & you instantly made me rediscover my love for football. This is something me & my family will be forever grateful for. It was an honour, thank you 🤍 ![]() His current estimated transfer fee is surely not what County would accept, his contract runs to 2025. However, if he could replicate his form in League Two in the Championship he surely would be worth every penny ?
