Substitutes: Joe Walsh, Ilias Chair, Kader Dembele, Michael Frey, Morgan Fox, Kenneth Paal, Kieran Morgan, Daniel Bennie, Emmerson Sutton. Here’s the run down on today. Josh Tymon when reflecting on the Good Friday win against Hull City clearly enjoys his time under interim head coach, Alan Sheehan. "First and foremost, it was great to see the fans fill out the stadium, a huge credit to them, and ultimately, it helps us loads on the pitch. We got that win for them, they were brilliant from start to finish and they spurred us on the get the three points as they have done all through this run. It's a great feeling to get four wins and clean sheets in a row. Momentum is a massive thing in football, the way we're playing and the way we're defending at the moment in this league is some going. Now, it's about carrying that on to the final three games” That’s what the Swans intend to do starting today, there is little to concern Alan Sheehan as it stands. Gonçalo Franco limped from the pitch on Friday but there is no intelligence to indicate he won’t play today. He forms a part of the midfield with Lewis O’Brien which is critical to every Swans game. The real issues are up front with two pretty blunt ‘goal scorers’ in Liam Cullen and Zân Vipotnik. That really does have to change. There will be a change again today in not only formation but in strategy and personnel. Sheehan seems to work well with limited resources and every time he takes charge of a game he proves again that with the same players as Luke Williams had success can be obtained. Hannes Delcroix is fifty/fifty. This is affecting Sheehan’s overall plans for today so we expect a late decision. Little training has been undertaken by the Swans since the defeat of Hull City, with their debrief on the weekend and general fitness issues addressed - the team travelled yesterday for this game. Alan Sheehan is comfortable with the way he goes into this game, “We have had the weekend to debrief the Hull game and consider what we did well and what we can improve on and get better at. We understand that it is a hectic period, but you have to be able to separate these games into individual tasks. So we have to close the tab on the Hull game. We certainly want to appreciate the wins and the effort the players have put in to this run. We also appreciate the feeling around the place at the moment, it’s a wonderful feeling so let’s try and make sure we have more of it.” It wasn’t the best of games on Friday, but like Derby County a few weeks before it was a result which they ground out and got the win by the odd goal. R’s head coach, Marti Cifuentes, “We are safe and we have achieved the first target as a club. The next target, as I've been saying this season, is to make sure that we at least achieve the fifty points that we achieved last season. So we've got three games to try to get there. I’m a competitive person. The guys are competitive. We will not just relax and now in the next games accept average performances. We want to keep pushing and finish the season in a good way.” On the R’s win at Preston on a Friday he was delighted with the result. "It's about using the space in behind. I think the first thirty five to forty minutes we did pretty well to use this space and gaps in behind but unfortunately we couldn't take - in my opinion - what would have been a deserved lead because we were creating some chances. At half-time we spoke about changing a couple of things, changing the formation to allow us to press a little bit more aggressively higher up the pitch, a bit more on the front foot and I think that changed the dynamic of the game." From his eighty games in charge at Loftus Road he has just under thirty four percent win rate. That’s not pulling up trees but the forty year old Spaniard has time on his hands. Marti came from Hammarby to join QPR in October 2023, and that’s a coincidence which won’t be lost on too many today. Kim Hellberg is the current Hammarby boss and his links to the permanent head coach role at Swansea has been intensified of late. Hellberg hasn’t been to Swansea recently and as we hear it the Swans are currently not in a position today to offer him any role. It’s unlikely if he is the favourite choice that he will be mentioned before the end of the season. There is a meeting this week to determine where the club are with Alana Sheehan, and really he is certainly the best option. With that quandary plus Harry Darling coming to the end of his Swansea contract there are some concerns. Not least Lewis O’Brien who we reported on two days ago. ⚽️ Get Lewis ! Who is pulling up trees is Alan Sheehan. A sixty percent win rate over ten games. ![]() And a recent form guide. ![]() There’s little to argue about regards his two stints at the Swans as interim head coach. Over his ten games this season it’s an impressive stat. The thirty eight year old only hung up his boots in 2022 finishing off at Oldham Athletic and he has learned very quickly. He also has the highest coaching qualification in Europe (Pro Licence) which he has held since June 2024. If you look into Alan’s achievement at that point and the fact that one highly placed club came in for him at that time with a job offer as a lead coach then the lights may well come on. The Indy as ever reported on that. We also reported on a Championship club and a current League one club who are after Sheehan. Both subject matters were taken from this website without credit. First the clubs after Sheehan as a coach was reported. Then the exclusive in clubs wanting him as manager. ⚽️ Indy exclusive clubs chasing Sheehan Whatever the situation this week with a board still not decided on their next move we still expect something this week even if it isn’t announced officially. We have a Championship Bank Holiday Monday thread below. Keep it here no other website does it like the Indy. Match report later.
