Previous Clubs:Stockport County

Signed by Roberto Martinez, initially on loan, in 2008 from Stockport County – Where he played over 160 games in 5 years. He played 3 times in our League One winning season before joining permanently for a fee of £400,000. Williams is now the current match day captain of the Swans after being handed the armband by Garry Monk. A good passer of the ball and has up a good partnership with Chico last season.

News Stories for Ashley Williams

Michael Duff : The loneliness of the long distance manager Sun 17th Sep 2023
Michael Duff looked a slightly lost man post match after witnessing his side produce next to very little to even give a glimmer of hope that last nights derby game could be won. Heading home to Cheltenham as opposed to Swansea he would most certainly be lost in his thoughts on that drive home last night.
The South Wales derby - If anyone knows about this game then Joe does Sat 16th Sep 2023
Joe Allen started life as a professional footballer at Swansea City, and knows exactly what the South Wales derby is all about. And he has scored in the fixture as well.

Is this the best away trip any fan can make ? Sun 16th Apr 2023
Once again we skim the surface of the Lost Boyo files, it only seems like yesterday when Matt covered his trip to Craven Cottage. It was in fact eleven years ago. Time as it always does waits for no one. Another comprehensive and detailed experienced with the Lost Boyo. Please enjoy !
Swansea City : Spotlight on the eighties Thu 08th Sep 2022
They were the days that many can’t remember, days that led to a dramatic fall in fortunes for Swansea City. Famous names may remain, and those games played could well be argued as the best of times but really ? Since the brilliant ‘Tosh’ has been released there definitely has been an upsurge in interest in the Swans for sure.
Jonjo Shelvey less than gracefully ends his Swansea City career Mon 08th Aug 2022
It was six years ago, but Sunday January 10th 2016 signalled a cross roads for numerous players and staff at Swansea City. An odd date you may think ? Not if you are Jonjo Shelvey, Francesco Guidolin, Alan Curtis or even Franck Tabanou. The latter never played a league game for Swansea City but will be forever remembered for an FA Cup appearance for the swans.
Rodgers quotes regards Swansea City and the club that made him Thu 12th May 2022
It’s a well trodden path for some, but when you look at todays content makers on YouTube and beyond, it’s potentially something they as the new generation of swans fans would look back on with pride, but nothing more. The expectation of premier league football every season became the norm, and the new and younger fans knew nothing else.
The 2013 League Cup Final In pictures remembered : Nine years ago ! Fri 25th Feb 2022
Today we look back at a Welsh club winning a major trophy within living memory when Swansea City beat Bradford City 5-0 at Wembley. Having disposed of Liverpool away and Chelsea over two legs the swans faced up to the banthams at the home of English football.
Middlesbrough v Swansea City : Past Glories In depth ... Thu 02nd Dec 2021
It’s that time of the week again where we wind back the clock to years gone by. We have picked a few memorable games for you as well. We have called these two games ‘past glories’ and in these two cases they probably were.
Ramsey, Moore & Wilson : Memories of 58’ Wales 2 Turkey 0 Thu 17th Jun 2021
The atmosphere in Baku for the second group game for Wales wasn’t as expected or predicted. An estimated 32,000 crowd didn’t exactly cram itself in to the Olympic stadium, it was pleasingly half full though with around 500 Wales followers in the corner of the ground. The Turks hardly got going, and those 500 voices boomed out across the stadium.
