Blackpool game abandoned 17:02 - Jul 11 with 33340 viewsdalebolt

Blackpools friendly against Lancaster has been abandoned, again due to fans refusing to leave the pitch. I wonder if they have anything planned for the 15th August?

Did I hear that the Club's Trust had applied for ownership of the Club (£16m from the Oyston mob?)

I understand why the demonstrations are taking place and I sympathise with their plight, but during the game is not the time or place.

They will cut their nose off to spite their face, because when the FA get involved, they will be disciplined, lose points, and then ordered to play behind closed doors if it continues.

Let the games be played without interruption.

They've made a bid of £16 million to buy out the club and return all other business interests to Oyston, i.e. hotels, conference facilities etc.

The supporters group want the club only, nothing else.

That's what they want sudden, no paying public means no money going into oystons pockets. If the trust hasn't taken over before our match there then as stated before I will not pay into the ground to put money into that morons pockets in support of the Blackpool supporters.

Even if it is, if they choose to protest the police may allow it. There was no real attempt to prevent them stopping the game v Huddersfield.

We may not like it, but we have to accept that our game there could be affected.

Have the supporters trust asked for other club's fans support by boycotting the games while the Oysters are in control?

Maybe wishful thinking but I can’t imagine that they’ll allow that to happen again. Time will tell I suppose

Apart from those who went too far and stormed the directors area, it appears the police were really not too concerned about the actual protest. Notice the bit about their response and specific use of the word "peacefully":

"Chief Inspector Eddie Newton of Lancashire Police said: “Our priority on the match day was to ensure the safety of all those inside the ground.

“The majority of protesters acted peacefully throughout and our policing response at the time reflected this.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Blackpool FC and Huddersfield Town FC supporters for their restraint, support and cooperation which helped to ensure that everyone was able to leave the ground safely and without injury.

“The aim of our investigation now is to identify the small minority of supporters who overstepped the mark and behaved in an unacceptable manner."

Would any Dale fans have a problem in boycotting the game at Bloomfield Road in support of fellow fans. Twenty five quid entrance is ridiculous anyway.

I really want to go to this game but from a moral point of view maybe we should stand behind the Blackpool fans and boycott it?

Yes, I'd have a problem with it. I'll be there to support OUR club.

I sympathise with the Blackpool fans, I really hope they manage to get rid of the Oystons, but Dale comes first. Our players haven't done anything wrong (I hope!), so I don't see why shouldn't be supported.

I'm alright Jack, I'm in the dinghy!! Sometimes supporters need to band together, we are taken for granted as it is. Standing side by side with the Blackpool fans would send out the right message and hopefully other visiting supporters would do the same.

I will go to the match rather than being a lone voice but paying 25 quid to the Oystons doesn't sit well, a few anti- Oyston chants will soften the blow though. Good luck to the Blackpool fans in their quest to get rid of that odious family.

Nobody suggested our players have done anything wrong, unless I've missed a deleted post.

I couldn't care less who owns them.
I won't pay the £25 to watch third division football.
I'm fed up of being taken for granted, expected to pay extortionate amounts for 90 mins "entertainment"

Having read their forum our game is definitely going to be targeted by protests, from both inside and outside the ground

I'm going to go to the game but will be mightily peed off if the Tangerine Army invade the pitch and get the game abandoned.
25 quid up the Swannee if that happens.

What's the protection (if any) if I pay by credit card? Can the credit card company do a claim back if Blackpool Football Club fail to deliver what was ordered? Any chance of Dale Trust looking into this? Thanks in advance chaps.

I really sympathise with the Blackpool fans over this. They're caught between a rock and a hard place over how they express their dissatisfaction over the current owners. Simply not buying merchandise or food & drinks in the ground won't be sufficient if they still receive parachute payments from the Premier League. I believe Blackpool share the same forum so if any webmaster can do some links it would be appreciated. Again, thanks in advance.

I would go into detail but Karl Oyston seems litigation happy over internet posts. It must be hard riding your daddy's coat-tails!

Surely the FL should be stepping in?

Let's look at the facts. The last Blackpool home league game was abandoned. Now a friendly game too, so it wasn't a one-off and the threats to disrupt the league fixture against Dale can be - should be - taken seriously. Unless I'm mistaken, this is unprecedented in the history of professional football in England.

So, are the football league going to just sit back and do nothing? If they do, it's an utter disgrace, and demonstrates what we already know is indifference bordering on contempt for the paying fans.

This game would normally be a must-go-to fixture. The admission fee is steep, but if you don't see supporting Dale at somewhere like Blackpool - and having a good day out into the bargain - as "entertaining" what the hell are you doing on this messageboard? League One, or League Z makes no difference, it's the atmosphere and chance of turning over a club who think they're bigger than us that counts, not the standard of football; and are Dale a poor footballing side these days?

Back to the FL - how can they not step into this situation, which threatens to bring the game into disrepute?

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

Given the ongoing nonsense at Blackpool FC over the last few years, would their supporters genuinely consider themselves bigger than us? Can't stand all this "we're bigger than you" bollox anyway (which is why I despise Bradford City) but the 'bigness' of Blackpool* is irrelevant at the moment. They can only dream of owners like Dunphy and Kilpatrick.

*In any other conversation size would be more appropriate, but it's all about bigness when it comes to football.

Blackpool have always been a bigger and better supported Club than Rochdale. A club steeped in history and tradition.

Nothing's changed, they are still a bigger Football Club than we are, if they end up in the National league/ Conference they will still be a bigger Football Club than us. It's only my opinion though.

I assume the FL will be after assurances from Blackpool that they can stage games, and as part of that they will be forced to show them their plans for making games secure.

Trouble is, a good many fans won't be willing to travel on an assumption. Whilst I disagree that £25 is too much to watch Dale hopefully beat Blackpool on their own midden, £25 is definitely too much to watch a bunch of fat tangerines sit in the centre circle.

I know it's a cliche, but... Isn't there any way the Dale Trust, as representatives of Dale fans as a whole, can approach the FL and ask them what those assurances might entail?
