Season Ticket Totaliser Thread 21:41 - Mar 20 with 142262 views442Dale

We have 87 days for people to get their £50 deposits in to determine the price of the 2017/18 Season Tickets.

Average amount of daily sales required by 21st June to hit the targets:
2000 (£250): 23
2500 (£200): 29
3000 (£150): 35
4000 (£110): 46

Keeping a track of this really helped ramp up the interest when Hartlepool fans did it, so hopefully it'll have a similar effect. Debate the numbers here over the next week, then we can add the figures once sales commence.

One assumption you are making is that all schools are willing for this to happen. Leaflets could be delivered, players could offer to go into schools but if the head, class teachers etc are not interested then it won't make a difference.

No assumptions. That's why I mentioned speaking to the office and the relevant people in this instance.

But yes, that may have occurred elsewhere. If so, it's about identifying such barriers and working out if these can be overcome.

All heads have their own areas of interest and a perception about what is important. Some may focus on languages, drama, sport etc. If they do not see football or specifically Rochdale as important gaining access would be difficult. Some may not like the marketing to children element eventhough a £10 season ticket is a bargain.

Commenting on a school's willingness to play ball so to speak would be a massive pr disaster and may even affect access at other school.

The club, through Keith Hicks and Football in the Community, have enough presence in schools to suggest it shouldn't be a major problem.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I agree. They must visit many of the targeted schools already, and whilst there will be some who are anti football (or even worse; anti Dale) we must have "warm " contacts in place at quite a number of schools.

Indeed, their work is absolutely top drawer and has been for decades. We can only wait and see what the club's follow up on this part of the initiative is. Maybe loads of schools have given out leaflets last week, as stated would happen in the OS article, and there will be a plethora of great stories going on the OS in the next few days on the back of this.

Any structured campaign would follow such a route and there's no reason to believe this won't happen in our case and there's just the odd school that are yet to get the leaflets/give them out. The follow up stories will no doubt capitalise on this and reassure supporters accordingly.

... hence my point about remaining non-specific, and if being a head teacher requires certain attributes then a failure to understand the local culture (including sport) would be a major failing

As TVOS says, we have an established presence in schools and a rounded education doesn't come much more easily than via a football. I'd be interested to hear from parents who post on here whether their children's school has been included in any marketing; facts rather than generalities

The website now clearly states £250 is the most an adult season ticket will be if deposits are under 2000 and those who purchase after 21st June. However it doesn't state when clearly state when the final balance will be due.
There is also more about the kids £10 ticket. Perhaps they could package it up saying if two or more under 11s tickets are purchased adult deposit can be £25

Have any lapsed season ticket holders on here been contacted directly by the club yet?

https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2017/may/sticket_update31.05.17/

Does it clearly state that? It says "top price band". Wasn't it going to be last year's price if you didn't buy begore 21/6. It says £250 "for those that do so", then goes on to say what happens if "you fail to make the deposit"

<<"Fans have until this date to pay their non-refundable £50 deposit at the ticket office, with the total cost of £250 at this stage for those that do so. If you fail to make the deposit before or on this date, then you will pay the top price band irrespective of the number of sales, so don’t miss out!">>

Again, that we are debating it is a problem in itself.

The bigger worry is the basic maths. Last week when the change to '£200 at 2000 sales' occurred we were at "Around 1600", today we are "edging towards" 1700. So that's approximately 100 sales in 9 days which, if that sales rate continues (average of 11 a day), means we'll sell less than 1950 in total.

But yesterday the official site said this.....

Which is great. Consistency is key to remove doubt.

And it might just be me, but where is yesterday's story?! Only got mobile access as away at the moment, so if there's a link I missed, fair enough.

The numbers are a bigger problem than the specifics right now though. There is an argument that the two are linked of course.

So anyone who paid a non refundable deposit, will pay the same as someone who didn't pay a deposit, unless we reach the next target, so if I couldn't afford £250 which I can I'd lose £50 but someone who can afford it didn't have to gamble to pay the same price,or have I got this wrong?

Seems that's the way some people are portraying it. Shows the level of uncertainty the club has created with their inconsistent advertising of it.

If that is the case they're clearly banking on getting 2000 deposits or going to drop the price again soon.

Depends on how many games you're expecting to attend, blueboy

If it's less than half, then it might be seen as a gamble, but if you went into the cheapest stand, the Sandy, you'd be in pocket if you attended only 14 games at £250

I see what your saying, I'll probably be at every game, but I still feel it's been a gamble I couldn't win after laying out £50 when others probably won't need to, it's still a bargain price I agree but why did I have to risk £50 when others might not have to, of course it could possibly drop again and my post will be pointless but it still doesn't sit right at the moment.

Thanks for that.

As has been said, it's removing a plus of the initiative by making fans think "well I might as well wait, I'm happy at £250 and can get it whenever"

It's little wonder the numbers are what they are recently.

Yes the only way people are now going to buy before June 21st is if it's guaranteed to be £150 or even go the whole hog and have them all £110 for 1 season only. The difference between £200 and £250 isn't worth buying it early.

Selling less than 1500 adult tickets at 110 or 150 would not be good for the finances! I think the club has taken a big enough hit as it is.

It wouldn't have been anywhere near 1500 had the club put the correct price tag on from the beginning and made things clear...... some people still employed at Spotland would get confused sorting a one piece jigsaw... ..

They can only blame themselves, but as per, they'll blame the town and fans, all you have to do is look all over social media the confusion that has been caused by their chopping and changing and that's for people interested in buying one/already put their deposit down.

To someone who hasn't bought a ST before or any potential new fans it's just been a disaster.

I regret putting my £50 down and I'll just have to take the loss on the chin. If the club can't be bothered to put a bit of effort into the marketing, I can't be bothered to fork out another £200+ after the 21st.

Start season ticket at 250 quid, for every 250 we sell price drops 10 quid. Capped at £115 which is £5 a match. It would have been simple, constant positives as the price keeps reducing and effectively after 3500 sales price hits minimum. So bloody simple but then why would our marketing department want that when it would look like any idiot could do it!!!!

Is the initial scheme exactly the same as the one Hartlepool did?

Do we know what sort of promotion they put in place?

If their scheme was promoted more, then why has RG not taken the proverbial by the horns and said something?

Sorry to say if the scheme and how it has been promoted are the same if not similiar then the fault IMO lies with the town and the negative fans.
Especially those on here who generally have nothing to say but negative comments

There are plenty of positive comments and actions within this thread. It makes for a very interesting timeline as people have followed the initiative over the last couple of months.

There's a lot to be learnt by anyone who wishes to think "how could we have done things better"

You're are right of course. I just wonder if the naysayers had kept quiet whether the promotion would have had more success.

Also a side point I suggested a £25 deposit if 2 or more under 11s tickets purchased. Would people be prepared to take that gambl?

Or even just £25 deposit full stop?
If so perhaps all those that would could email the club saying so
