Good result given all the off pitch noise this week which could well have affected the players mentally.

Any marginal gain is vital right now, and we take a step forward with an extra point between us and the relegation zone

McNulty team selection is as bad as his tactics! Mellor starting, yet Sinclair on the bench, East on the bench, Keohane on the bench, No John. Yet he starts with Gordon and Armstrong, it is if he does want to win games.

So frustrating, if BJ had of picked your side we would have won in a canter. He clearly know nothing about picking a team to get a result. Are you available to take the job?

You won’t get a reply. The ones who thrive on being negative before a ball is even kicked in most games can’t bear to come on afterwards and admit they may have been wrong.

They know who they are.

Not sure what Gordon's done wrong, thought he had a good game today.

Great result

At 2 nil down i thought we were beaten.

This should give the guys great confidence in what they can achieve despite all the drama off the pitch.
Well done Jim..you continue to prove me wrong

A very good point in the circumstances of this week and the backdrop of what is coming.

8 more required for safety and hopefully 3 on Tuesday will put some distance between us an Wealdstone.

423 from Dale in a crowd of 8,301. 2017 since we last played there and it will be some time before we do again in League competition.

We might play them in L2 in 18 months time. How do you know what is coming?

I will put my hands up, I was wrong and McNulty got the team selection correct. At 2-0 I was despondent, but give the team credit they fought back to get a draw, which all of us would taken before the game.

Hopefully we can get a win on Tuesday, then we have two tough away games, but get a point at such a good side as Chesterfield must give the team confidence to get points.

Indeed, and I’m really not sure how today’s crowd is relevant in the grand scheme of things. Or is it more bullshit by numbers?

Yes, bullshit by numbers and trying desperately to convince us that there really is no other alternative.

Apologies if my reply seemed a bit harsh but Jim really needs to be cut some slack at the moment given the absolute shitshow he’s had to deal with not just this week, but all season. We’ve enough going on without having to read some of the stuff posted at the start of this thread.

Let’s get behind him and the lads regardless of if we agree with who he picks to take the field and leave the efforts to take the blame away from the boardroom to the ones who think we are all too thick to see what they’re up to.

Great to see the lads have the character to fight back and get a point few expected at 2-0 down, especially there.

No apologise needed and I agree with your sentiments, I just wish that Jim realises that we have a good squad and when we are positive going forward, we are as good as most teams in this division.

It was mentioned at one of the Trust meetings with supporters that Jim McNulty’s commitment and positive attitude towards his job and the club was probably managing to keep everyone with some sort of optimism. On the pitch it really hasn’t been good enough recently, he knows as much himself, but I dread to think how we’d all be feeling this week without such a decent person carrying out the job as manager.

Whatever happens over the coming weeks and months, he can hold his head up high.

6 of our next 7 against teams currently outside the top 10. Every chance we might have ridden out our usual winter slump and we often seem to finish the season strong. Just hope we revert to having all 3 of East, Clayton and Gilmour back together in the middle of the park when the sun comes out and the pitches start to firm up again.

That is a very good point taken from the league leaders and chesterfield will be pulling their hair out after being 2 up and then drawing two all at FT.
The Dale players should hold their heads up high after that result and take it to the next match and fear nobody.
Well done to Mellor for the first goal and to Rodney finally getting on the score sheet..

Up the Dale...

PS
The pitch was a disgrace...

They were lucky to be level at ht. Both Rodney and Mitchell should have done better with chances in the first half. Chesterfield were a shadow of the team that ran rings around us at Spotland but I guess when you are 20 points clear of 2nd its difficult to motivate the players the same. Great fightback and great to see Rodney back.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

I stand by my comments I made last year when we were marching through the midfield at Mansfield going for all 3 points and BJ brings on a defensive mid fielder when he should have stuck with the attacking format and gone for the jugular. Much as I like the bloke he’s too conservative and looks to fight another day and take a point rather than all 3. That’s why he’ll have a level WDL ratio in his managerial career and not a winning one. If we get through our predicament and come out the other side we need a new manager to take us forward in an upward trajectory. UTD

Great result under the circumstances & one I certainly wasn’t expecting! Let’s take this into Tues & give us a home win lads, a positive performance will take our minds off all the other stuff at least for a while.

Agree completely..ask 5 fans about team selection and i can guarantee they will all be different..Jim sees things on a daily basis that we don't see and often has to play his cards close to his chest with such limited options...at least we have a set of players who all want to play compared to last season where one or two were happy not to bother
