How selfish of hogan. We need that money to survive and he's just being greedy with his wage demands that's why he's staying don't let him fool you.
Let him rot in the reserves

Obviously meant as a joke.
My main concern is that he just wasn't happy with the terms rather than wanting to stay.
He may well end up leaving the club this window for half that fee but he will move because the money is simply right for him.

perhaps the rumoured "stall" was indeed Hogan not wanting to go, but the media twisting it...they do that sometimes.

Big respect for Hogan though, shows that it isn't always about the money, happiness does indeed bring success.

If he stays to the end of the season I am fairly confident he will help us to the play-offs at least. I am sure if this happens then Scott will really enjoy himself. He is a key member of our team and he knows that. He really looks like he is enjoying his football already. To massively understate my feelings I am over the moon that he is staying. As KH puts it " What is special about Scotty Hogan is that he does want to play for us". Unbelievable respect to Scotty.

I am sure he will get further rewards, over and above Dale's success this season, when Scott goes to a North West club where he will be happier than going to The Posh. Of course, he can stay with us if he wants to !!!!!

Where is he playing on Saturday, Mr Fry ???????????

To me the most important part of what Hilly says is "Scott was then given the opportunity to speak with Peterborough and at this moment in time HE'S ADAMANT THAT HE WANTS TO STAY...."

Let's hope he will be here to the end of the season (and let's not kid ourselves other clubs may come in for him before the end of the transfer deadline). However all being well we are in a win-win situation as other clubs will know they will have to match or better Peterborough's offer

I am sure Scott will have spoken to the other experienced players at the club as to whether it would have been a good move for him. There is an interesting comment a couple of days ago on the PUFC forum which says

"Bearing in mind the number of players released or put on the list in the last year or so, our poor ground & poor gates, the sort of player we need will not come here."

If hogan does stay whats the chances of an improved contract to keep other clubs at bay....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

Going to Bolton would be worse than going to Posh in my eyes. They are a far poorer club than Dale so why should they be allowed to splash the cash they don't have? Ridiculous.

I know who Id rather have in my team. Hill said it cost us promotion - I'll go with his judgment.

Still not definite though.

Hoping this means he wants to stay until at least the end of the season and not just that he wasn't interested in this offer.

There's a lot of potential to make even bigger money for the player and club if he holds out.

Agree and I am surprised that the club would accept what appears to be a first (or early) bid with clearly other clubs interested.

Surely with the cup run and a possible run for promotion/wembley we dont have an immediate need for cash, (and add ons which no doubt would be part of the deal do not produce cash NOW so cannot help pay bills NOW). On the other hand selling Hogan now could have an effect on attendance as once again Dale show little ambition or intent to hold onto its best players (even when the player wants to stay) and pursue further glory.

The club is saying it has a preference for cash (however much it is) over Hogan.

What time of an evening do signings have to be registered with the FL for players to be available for selection by new club the following day?

It's all gone quiet at Barry Fry's end on the signing...

Does this all mean that i can select Hogan again on the prediction league?
It says a lot about Hogan that he wants to continue for the time being at Rochdale and makes me proud that we have a team ethic that is really worth playing for. Thankyou really should go to Keith who found Hogan and has created what can only be another Rochdale football dynasty. A great manager, great players, great football, saturdays are a delight to wake up to even if for me it mainly has to be on sky sports. Roll on the second half of the season, i think we have the makings of a great squad. Up the Dale.

Word on the street is that Peterborough made 2 initial offers that were turned down by Dale (the second one in the region of £700,000).

Peterborough were understandably flummoxed by this, having carefully sought advice from dingdangblue who told them we always give our players away in a bid to throw promotion away.

So Peterborough asked Dale what do we want for Hogan, and in a mad moment we asked for a figure in excess of £1m and Peterborough verbally agreed.

The player then decided he was happy playing for Dale and didn't fancy the burden of being Peterborough's record signing and relocating etc. After all he is only 21 and is still learning his trade. He also stated that he reads mong central and their reaction to him leaving Dale before Peterborough had even made an offer influenced his decision to stay.

Hopefully, as a club, we've learned some lessons from this episode.

So let's hope the board have learned a valuable lesson from this saga : Ask a silly price and someone might pay it! You can always reduce a silly price but its hard to increase an asking price that was too low in the first place.

Also by valuing Hogan at over £1m and getting an offer, it sets a precedent for the next time someone comes knocking. (As they will for Lund, Allen, Bunney, Camps, Bennett etc.)

My thoughts entirely 49.

Since CG has been at the club we have been far more savvy in selling players and now I think we will be even more ambitious in the size of down payments.

We all know CG is the alchemist of the clause, but now he might add some cheek to future dealings.
