Getting the replay right - things I'd like to see 09:53 - Feb 19 with 2524 viewsRAFCBLUE

The next 10 days are going to be the biggest marketing effort we have available for free.

I'd like to see:

1) Completely Free travel for anyone who was at the Spurs game and new season ticket holders (see point 2). Based on the attendance of 8,480 and 3,500 spurs fans thats around 5,000 people. I'd imagine the take up to be about 30%.

2) Next year's season ticket deposit. £50 gets you priority after season ticket holders in the replay ticket scramble. A similar pricing to this year would get a lot of deposits for next year (in February) with pricing to come. It can be contingent too on what league we might be in.

3) Get Jim Watt to Spotland. That man gave THE best team talk we could have had and Russ shot down. He needs to be plugging the game and our sponsors for the next ten days.

4) Give 2 free tickets to everyone who was there yesterday for two upcoming games and they can choose. Retaining those people for league games is key now and the short-term cost of free tickets vs what people spend in the bars/shop/kiosks should give us back the cost in other ways.

I'd much rather we did none of your suggestions and made a load of money.

We are going to make a load of money regardless.

I'd like to think that we can capitalise somehow on all the goodwill for the long term future. The home games against MK Dons and Plymouth are must win and could be a case of "after the Lord Mayor's show".

We failed massively retaining customers who went to Wembley the following season. We can't afford to make the same mistake twice.

The coach travel doesn't need to be free. £15 or so is fair to supporters, and doesn't result in a big loss to the club.

I hated the £50 deposit on the Season Ticket scheme last season, and I hated the sliding pricing scale. The town just didn't back it, suggesting that they also didn't like it. Keep things simple and great value, and we will sell enough provided it's marketed well. Much of what was done last year was poor.
Rochdale people generally want clarity and simplicity, and don't take too kindly to new ideas.

Announce (quickly) that anyone with a Spurs Ticket stub can get in against MK Dons for £5. This should really have been done yesterday. Plug it all over the media (Talk Sport, 5 Live...everyone who praised us yesterday.)
In fact, why not announce that all admission for the rest of the season will be £10 in a bid to increase crowds and help back the players.

What I didn't understand last year was the lack of focus on the season ticket finance offer, interest free with a £12 admin fee. Great if you can't afford £200 up front

All great ideas.

I'm not bothered what we do but we have to capitalise this opportunity.

Yesterday showed there are 5,000+ Rochdale fans who could come every week. That's under 1/3rd of what the Wembley playoff figure was. We need most of that 5,000 every week.

If not, our attendance for the next few weeks will be:

Spurs (h): 8,470
MK (h): 2,500
Wigan (a): 1,000
Spurs (a): 7,200
Plymouth (h): 2,500
Walsall (a): 200

Subsidized travel to help ensure Rochdale fill the end at Wembley would be a good gesture from the club.

Giving away free tickets or reducing prices for rest of the season will do one thing, totally alienate and be a kick in the teeth to the lifeblood of the club, which are the season ticket holders, who are prepared to support the club unconditionally and not be fair-weather.

Those fans are no different to the players, who, to their credit, didn't come out with any platitudes about the MK Dons and Wigan games being more important. All they want to do is play at Wembley, as would anyone, who, to subvert another poster's view on a different matter, has ever played or watched the game at any level!

I'm sure this forum is representative of the wider pool of potential Dale fans. Ton of new names or less frequent visitors over the last few days.

I know there will be a lot of headaches for very good reasons at Spotland today, but I sincerely hope that Russ and his team don't have a huge one trying to convert this groundswell of interest into STs.

From the last Trust meeting:

Season Tickets: is there a plan in place for next season and when will info be released to supporters? What do the board see as the positives and negatives from this season's season ticket initiative? And what have they learnt from the experiment?

There is a plan in place, and when it is finalised, details will be revealed. The club have reviewed last Summer’s Season Ticket sale, and have made a few tweaks here and there. The club are keen for the season ticket to remain value for money and it will again be incentivised as it was last Summer. The club have took on board a number of comments from last year, both the compliments and the complaints.

So what is the plan and when will it be released. Strike while the iron is hot. NOW!

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!
