NZ and Iran are in different confederations so I do doubt it was a competitive international.
He was also in the OFC Olympic qualfying tournament in 2004, but this is classed as non official for caps purposes as it is age restricted. However, he did make five appearances for NZ in the World Cup qualifying in (our) Summer 2004, during the middle of his time at Dale. So he definitely pre-dates Lund | | | |
