Smith a victim of Twitter hackers and Ridsdale up in court!

Two former high profile figures of Leeds United made the news this week.

The Irish Independent report this weekend that Alan Smith is the latest victim to fall foul of Twitter. The social networking site has reared its head on more than one occasion whether it be ex-Liverpool striker Ryan Babbell posting pictures of referee Howard Webb mocked up in a Man U shirt and West Ham's Carlton Cole, who bizarrely was charged with making an alleged racist statement about Ghanians after a recent England friendly on his own Twitter page.

Smith however does not own a Twitter page! Apparently @AlanSmith17 is nothing to do with the Newcastle United player, according to his agents' Tweets! The site is clearly the work of an imposter, who last week was claiming he wished to return to Elland Road but the club could not afford his wages.

This content was not the only thing on Twitter to cause concern amongst Leeds supporters, another worrying Tweet was Robbie Savage was apparently considering postponing his retirement to sign-up with his ex-Leicester Teammate Simon Grayson at ER next season!

And Peter Ridsdale this week (pictured) appeared before Magistrates after being charged with three counts of fraud and unfair trading by Cardiff Council. The charges relate to a scheme Ridsdale apparently launched whilst Chairman at the Bluebirds during December 2009. The so-called "Golden Ticket" promised fans, who were daft enough to pay up for their 2010/11 season tickets upfront a full refund if the club made the Premiership and a guarantee that the revenue would be spent on players.

However the Welsh club were under a transfer embargo at the time, so nobody was signed.

The case has been transferred to Crown Court with a hearing set for July 22nd. Ridsdale, now acting Chairman at crisis club Plymouth Argyle could be looking at a ten year stretch if he is found guilty of the charges.
