Swansea sign on five more of their out of contract players as the squad takes shape

The handful of players were today confirmed as getting their contracts to add to yesterday's confirmation of both Alan Tate and Shaun MacDonald.

Monk. KOL, Lawrence and Austin all triggered appearance clauses in their contract that entitled them to a new deal whilst Tudur Jones has signed a new deal believed to be on a performance related basis.

The contracts leave just Tom Butler, Andy Robinson and Guillem Bauza still to resolve their situations although Butler and Bauza have both said they want to sign whilst Robinson remains in contract negotiations with the club.

Speaking in today's Western Mail, Tudur Jones said “It was great to see Owain finish the season on such a positive note,” Martinez said. “It was pleasing for everyone to see him enjoying his football and challenging for a place again after what has been a very difficult time with such a long-term injury.

“But he's come through a more mature person and I'm convinced it will help him to become a better, stronger player and character on the pitch.

“We are all delighted he has committed his future to Swansea City and I’m sure he has a very successful club and country career ahead of him. Owain is going to be Wales’ senior captain in the future.”

"I'm delighted to get that further 12 months at a special time for the club. It's a big boost for me," said Owain.

"I'm really looking forward to pre-season training where it's a chance for me to get fit and to try and get myself to the level of the rest of the boys.

"It's an exciting time for the club and to be part of that is a big thing.

"All I can do is get myself as fit as possible, try and impress the manager on a daily basis and if I do that then I'm giving myself a chance to progress my career and stay with this club as long as possible.

"It's been tough. It hasn't been an easy couple of years but I've learnt to deal with it.

"To get over something like this stands you in good stead, you know that you can deal with anything that happens to you in your football career.

"It's a case now of not dwelling on the injuries, it's about moving on and looking forward to the challenges ahead."

Interestingly, the club have only confirmed officially that Tudur Jones, Tate and MacDonald have signed up to date
