In The Programme - York City

And so here we are for the last time this season - another eventful nine months at Planet Vetch and a 13 week period ahead of us until football returns - of course our last season at the Vetch beckons.

It's been a disappointing season after the start that we had back last August and September - I am sure we have learned much from our team over that period of time and from that surely we have to be stronger next season? The potential is there in the players that we have and with a few useful additions over the course of the summer then why can't we dream of promotion for next season and a new start in a new division in time for White Rock?

Of course the last season at the Vetch will mean so much to so many of us and no doubt towards the end of next season we will start to see more people coming through the gates to pay their last respects to the old girl and, although we will miss it, I am excited about the move to the new stadium especially after seeing it progress so quickly over the course of the last few months. It will be a stadium that I am sure we will be proud of and one that we hope visiting supporters enjoy as much as we do (except of course for the results)

Twelve months ago in the last game of last season we know what we were going through and on that basis a welcome to anyone that has made the trip to the Vetch from York and commiserations for the way that your season has turned out. I truly hope that you bounce back quickly from your relegation and it was magnificent to see the way that your supporters backed your team last weekend despite the relegation being confirmed. If our fall from the top has been quick this season, yours was even quicker - how we may have thought at the start that this could have been a championship decider? It's a funny old game isn't it.

At some point during today's proceedings, Amy Prosser will be making a presentation on behalf of JackArmy.net to one player. The player in question has been voted for by fans on the site in the past couple of weeks as not only player of the season, but also the player who scored what the fans have titled 'goal of the season'. You won't be surprised to learn that the man in question is Andy Robinson - the true star of the disappointment that we have had this season. Andy was a runaway victor in the vote from Lee Trundle and his goal against Preston back in January eclipsed Kieron Durkan's against Rushden to take the goal of the season award. I am sure you will all join the readers of JackArmy.net in showing your appreciation for Andy for his efforts this season so keep an eye out for the award ceremony.

And that does just about wrap it up for me for this season. I'd like to thank Colin Jones, and latterly Lesa Hitchings for giving me the chance to share my thoughts with you over the past nine months and I hope to be given the chance again next season. I hope you have enjoyed this particular aspect of the matchday programme - if you have any ideas on how to improve it then please drop me an e-mail at the address below.

It's been a long hard season and one that promised so much but never lived up to those promises but I guess that is football all over the country. Enjoy the last day of the season and here's hoping for a Swans win to finish it all off.

Have a great summer everyone and see you next season.
