I threw Phil into this 😂

Have to say the likes of Mike Lewis were shit scared of what we had achieved.

Love history. This was from a parliamentary paper.

12) The launch was extremely successful with over 600 signing up on the day to join what was now a constitutionally set up body ready for an involvement in our football club, in anticipation of the day arriving when Shares became available to purchase in the event of a change of ownership. Membership fees and the auction held raised over £3000. Backing for the Trust came from far and wide with John Toshack, John Hartson, Max Boyce, Gareth Edwards, Rhodri Morgan AM, Martin Caton MP, Kevin Johns, Eurig Wyn MEP, Steve Hamer, Mel Nurse and Mel Charles amongst many pledges of support.

13) A meeting was called in Bristol where (Midlands, Avon and Gloucester Swans) members London and Swansea based fans met to discuss financial matters with past Club Chairman Steve Hamer. The meeting was designed to give a financial picture of a football Club’s affairs and how Supporters could become involved financially in ownership.

The last few years the club was drifting away from me or me from the club

Hopefully this is a turning point before it got semi permanent

We all need a smile on our faces

Well, these moments in this thread were before Mel Nurse got involved. Lewis who I understand is still around today was offered a few things but the real offer came in when Petty was paid off.

This is a part of the parliamentary review. As stated in the original post OP here Phil and I drove this forwards from 1999 (we were kicking Hamer and McClure in the nuts for two years before that. Until a time when the fans took over, Jenkins, Dineen et al. with Van Zweden and Katzen. I received a call from David Morgan asking to invest and of course we all have hindsight but my occupation would never have allowed it. Think of the positives I wouldn’t be running this shit show had i said yes 😂👍

Ahem …

Mel offered to buy the club well before Petty
There used to be a SCFC golf day and I was there when Mike Lewis made a speech in the evening and Mel was in attendance he stated that Mel had made an offer but Lewis wouldnt accept it.

Mel was involved publicly from way after the OP dated 2000, is my point and didn’t attend any of the formative meetings that led to the fans taking over. Is my point. Parliament documents are there for all to see. 👍

I’m not undermining anything Mel (I wish him well and a speedy recovery as he is unwell) did or said he was key to it all from one point in time. What he said, did or mentioned locally wasn’t in our immediate focus, nor was it documented by us. There was a lot of talk around at the time, too much from some, what we did was getting that focus nationally before the Patti Pavilion meeting. (10 months later) Hence the first meeting reported in the OP, there were a variety of other meetings beforehand from 1999.

This is just a thread on a bit of history myself and Phil were involved in. Nothing more. Mention also goes to Richard Lillycrap and Mike (both RIP)

Mike Lewis is still around - he recently did an interview with Anthony O'Connell on GoodEveningSwansea podcast talking about his time at Spurs and Swansea.

A focus whichnwas much needed.....its such a shame rhe good work done back then was undone in in some ways when the club was sold in 2016.

Who knows where we might have ended up if not for what you guys did back then

At least we’re still here
My most vivid memory is when John Bond was manager and also Colin Addison
I was driving to the pool for a swim and heard the Welsh news about our critical position
I stopped and turned the car around and went home
Didn’t Bond say , ah well , they’ll go back to being a rugby town now ?

Did Mike Lewis mention his time at Exeter City? He is not remembered fondly there.

Mike Lewis is still around. He’s been a presenter on Radio Tircoed (now re-branded as Welsh Coast Radio). I think he still does a bit up there.
I was a presenter on that station myself between 2008 & 2016, & I had dealings with him in my time there. Will leave it at that.
